Yes it did have filter media and looked like a chunky chocolate milk shake. I drove truck over 100 miles today with no problems so I guess using gas to clean it didn't harm anything

for those that have done this mod, have you noticed any visible difference in your oil from an oil change?

Not really, I don't put a lot miles on. I change the oil every 90 to 100 days, and it looks the same.

Less in the pan with the rest in the can. At least it isn't on the valves, intake runners, pistons, rings, and things in between.

Been looking a bit through this thread. I originally was going to install the catch can where everyone else does, but since I have a electrical box there, any other places people place theirs?

There is a brace that bolts to the intake...can figure a mount and mount it right there. My FJ has a threaded hole just up and to the right of where the brace mounts, but I have seen some other 4.0s (Tacomas?) don't. Can just use the brace mount bolt in that case

You can also do in front of the battery, or in front lower where you'll access through the wheel well, or on the passenger side of the engine bay. This takes some creativity since its not a usual item to install (unfortunately)

When I add my plefreybuilt bussmann plate I plan to screw angle iron to the end to remount catch can closer to engine.

Can anyone suggest an alternate mounting location other than the one shown in the OP? That space on mine is currently occupied by my Bussman fuse and relay panel.

IMG_0009.jpg IMG_0008.jpg As always a great thread..waiting for UPS with my filter...adding a Moroso.....yes its a little pricey but past experience with those folks has always been a great quality item..good customer service......have a question for the folks who added the in line filter on the return, does the pressure drop across the seperator and the inline filter cause any issue's with the normal flow? I like the option to monitor any flow thru of the seperator, just curious about adding both to a normally open section of tubing....tnx in advance

    installed today

Dont know if the box you're talking about is a small black one, but I took the cover off and zip tied some cut up military mre bag plastic over it and mine fits fine.

Is there really any difference between catch cans? Would just a cheapo eBay can suffice? This is the one I'm looking at

I would not go cheapy because it could cause an air leak and then you throw codes. I assume it would work but I look at it as "you get what you pay for". Look at Add-1. There reasonable priced. Amazon
