    The bar has to be lower than the driveshaft to protect the driveshaft.

    It won't get snagged. The bar will lift the bracket over whatever it's sliding on.

    20170828_210451.jpg It is now the lowest point under the truck. But judging by the scrapes I got at Windrock I am pretty confident that it saved my driveshaft.
    When I designed it, my primary goals were to prevent axle wrap which can cause wheel hop, and that is not good for rear axle shafts, r &p, etc., driveshaft protection, and later on I added a hoop to corral an errant DS in case of u joint failure. I dont want to have a hole punched in my fuel tank if that happens.

    IF it wasn't for the loop, which needs to be tied into both the upper and lower bars for support, I would have done separate links . But they would have ended up with the pivot being another 18" or so forward to match the arc travel of the axle through the suspension cycle.
    Every design is a compromise, and the main goals always need to be kept as priority. So far I am happen with the performance of it. But I will change it in the future if I come up with a better design and/or my design goals change.[/ATTACH] 20170827_171433.jpg

    The bottom bar is 1/4" wall to handle the thrashing that I knew it would be subject to.

    I can drive around small rocks that would miss the bar but hit the driveshaft. Now ledges are an entirely different matter.
    Remember that time we decided to turn around on 13A because of all those big rocks? Well, that is the kind of trail that I have to take to get to the real trails. :D
