I've ran both crossbreeds and aliengears and the crossbreed is definitely a fine piece of equipment, but for the cost I like the aliengear cloak tucks alot. The backing is alot less sweaty to wear for a full day as well.

That all said, I completely switched over to AIWB cause I'm a skeleton and everything from 3-6 oclock printed like a mofo, so now I'm running a T-Rex Sidecar.

Pros: I can conceal a full size M&P without printing, and can get to my gun in my car seat, and it's crazy comfortable.

Cons: I'll probably shoot my dick off at some point.

I cringe when I see open carry.
Really hate that WV made concealed carry without a license legal!

Personally, I'm not a big fan of "open carry" in most cases. Several reasons. If I ever NEED a fire arm, I want the element of surprise in my favor. Showing your hand ahead of time puts you in a position to be "sucker punched". IMHO, about 90% of the people who walk around displaying their hand guns are just trying to LOOK like a bad ass. 2/3rds of them would pass out in fear if it came down to actually USING a gun. Just my opinion...Not a lot of "on the job" experience with defending myself against threats. I tend to look back on military experience and try to use common sense. Keep it handy...Keep it available, but keep it hid from sight to those around me that may just be easily provoked for no good reason.

I also think it's up to gun owners/gun rights advocates to more or less "police" their own ranks. Like it or not, we're held up in the court of public opinion far more often than we realize. I like to portray myself in a positive light to everyone. Do not wish to be viewed as a "hostile" just because I choose to practice my constitutional rights. Justified or not, many people view a gun totin' redneck as a threat. Even if that red neck is their salvation in an active shooter situation, the most innocent situation can (and often does) escalate when someone sees you with a gun in what many would view as a "non gun environment". Being viewed as a potential trouble maker can often put very peaceful people in a bad situation.

But it ALL comes back to that concept of, I want to keep the element of surprise in my favor. Old men need to use every trick in the book when push comes to shove....

I DO support our right to be armed, but I ALSO support everyone's right to feel safe. In todays world, it's not always easy to distinguish "protector" from "unreasonable threat". I'd prefer to NOT put some stranger in the position of making a snap judgment evaluation of which one I am.

100% with you on element of surprise Bill. If I'm ever in a situation where I have to draw I assume that situation has escalated to the point where I'm at a last resort to get home safe. Being tagged as a threat out of the gate doesn't do me any favors there.

I'm a member of a training outfit in Cleves called TIG. They do defensive firearms, hand to hand, emergency first aid, etc. They do a "RBST" every month-reality based scenario training- where they basically mock up a shoot house as a gas station and give everyone simunition Glocks then stick you in the gas station buying a soda and at some random time, one of the teachers will come in and "rob" the place/force you to drive their getaway car or something similar.

Almost without fail, the people who immediately draw their weapon get shot straight away. The people who wait for an opening usually neutralize the threat or in a few cases, don't even have to draw their weapon if the robber just takes money and leaves.

The moral of all of that was that as soon as a situation starts developing like that, our trained reaction should be threat evaluation and information gathering first, obviously unless it's clearly an immediate threat to your life. This also forces you to take a second to gather yourself instead of making a snap decision that could get you killed during a real life adrenaline dump.

Regarding "constitutional carry"- at first I was honestly pretty annoyed. My thinking was "ugh none of these people did the CCW training!". But then I remembered that the CCW training is useless lol. Basically if you can hit a dinner plate from 5 feet and stay awake 8 hours, you pass. So I dunno. I just encourage everyone to continue training after the class and actively seek out more advanced CCW classes. There's alot to learn and alot of good resources out there!

I always take notice when I see an open carry. Makes me feel like saying "excuse me, your pistol is showing" . That or "Haaayy!! What kinda Glock is that!! Woooaahh can i hold it?? My daddy used to let me shoot his!!" ...then just start reechin for it lol

Look for a Facebook group called Gun Enthusiasts of Cincinnati. There is a guy in the group names Aaron Cummins that does custom kydex. A lot of the group members have been very happy with his work.

I wasn't disagreeing with anything you said....I was adding my thoughts to the pile. And no, I haven't seen yours. (Or your gun)

Once Deeds commented on open carry, I just started typing MY thoughts on the subject. Not disagreeing with anyone.
