I plan on not using a relay harness at all. Instead, I will use the factory relay and fuses. I've calculated that a 20A fuse in the 15A H-LP LO position should not cause damage to the wires. Chapter 11 of AC 43.13-1B helps with that lol. The high current is also intermittent and only happens during startup.

So my wiring would be: Fuse>Relay>Fuse>H11/9006 Adapter>Ballast>Bulb. This should be a very simple and clean install since it is mainly the ballast and wire going in.

    Thanks for the replies, guys!

Yes, the ballast has a 9006 style input connector, whereas the OEM headlight harness has an H11 style plug. You cannot plug an h11 plug into a 9006 plug -- although they look similar.

The black/white wires that go through the grommet convert from 9006 to H11.

Hope this helps (although the question has been answered),

    Steve

No relay harness here. I changed the fuses to higher rated ones per recommendations and haven’t had a problem.

I’m using the XenonDepot 4300k Philips bulbs and Hylux ballasts I had leftover from an old set up.

    Well I ordered the 5000K lights :)

Only thing I was concerned with is not having as much usable light with 5000K as with 4300K as I saw someone post.

4300 does give you more usable light......you want to see more than be seen in the truck.......if on motorcycle, you want to be seen so the more light the better

Is there really that big of a difference between 4300K and 5000K ?

XD are not cnlight to my knowledge but I have their Philips and then my cnlight. Both 4300k rated. The cnlight are whiter by a good margin. However the light output of the Philips is quite a bit more. I had been using the Philips for a few months and tried to go back to cnlight and while the color was more appealing, I noticed it seemed visibly dimmer in comparison so I've been sticking with the Philips.

The XenonDepot branded HID bulbs are not CN light bulbs. Our XD branded bulbs usee Philips UV quartz glass. Honestly, you are only losing about 300 lumens by going with the 5000K HID bulbs which is not a noticeable difference at this level.

Here is another guide comparing the 5000K vs the Philips:

Great read, and a thorough test. Glad I went with the Philips bulbs

If I have morimoto 35w ballasts with 5500k bulbs, can I get the 4300k phillips bulbs and replace them.

    Yep!

We sell our H11 HID bulbs (philips is in the options) -- sold in pairs.

If one wanted to do this what connectors/pigtails do those philips bulbs come with and are they compatible with the morimoto 35w ballast kit?
