    A couple of quick questions.

    1. Can you hook up XM to these android tablets? I'm assuming that you could download the XM app but don't want to use my phone's data.
    2. Can you use the navigation and be on a phone call at the same time?

So I got the joying 2g head unit. Couple of things I noticed right off the bat.

    1. It's an oversized unit and sticks out about an inch from factory, so it looks a little tacky IMO.
    2. If you have premium JBL stereo, the head unit reduced sound quality overall, I have no idea as to why that is. But it sounds a lot worse with this head unit. I'm no sound expert but I definitely noticed a difference.
    3. The microphone it comes with is garbage. No one can hear me talk when I use it. It's all distorted
    4. Can't use XM, only the app is available which requires data.

There is a sim card slot..but I haven't tried to use it as I have no idea how I would go about using it. I guess buy a sim card from t mobile or something?

Iv been using my phones hotspot for Pandora and GPS.

Overall I give the head unit a 5 out of 10. For the price it's great

What year is your truck Fobella?

I'm thinking about buying one of these to update my 09 but I don't like the idea of it sticking out of the dash 1 inch. In all the other installs I've seen in this thread it doesn't look like it sticks out.

11' DCSB, I have been using mine for 2 months. Mine doesn't stick out 1" and I haven't done any sanding to make it exactly flush(some in the forum have done this). I use the GPS and works great. My mic doesn't give me any issues. My non jbl system sound was worst. Interacts and plays with my s7 through bluetooth likes a champ. Plus,I love using my phone as a hotspot and using android apps directly from the head unit.

I have an 09, I'll get some pics so y'all get an idea of what I'm talking about with the 1 inch sticking out.

I just think the head unit can't utilize the premium JBL sound system properly ?

Help me if you know something more effective for me, but my GPS requires my head unit to be hooked up to a hotspot for it to work... which navigation app do you use ?

I also downloaded a hacked Pandora on the head unit and use that as my music source, like a song and you have the option of downloading it directly to your storage, which the head unit has 32gig ish plus option for SD card. So I always have music even without internet :) . Also swapped the android launcher to the NOVA launcher and it looks a lot better.

I use the nav app that it came installed (Navi) with no issues. No internet needed and picks up GPS like my factory installed Eclipse head unit. My Pandora runs online and offline if you have an account as well.

Based on the dimensions I found for the unit you have and the apline unit I have, my Alpine ine-w940 is deeper and doesn't stick out that far. I've been lurking this thread wanting to ditch my alpine.

    That joying deck is 178cm(w)x100cm(h)x144cm(d).
    My alpine is 178mm x 100mm x 165mm.

Check your head unit chassis, and dash kit for another arrangement of mounting/screw holes. That deck should definitely recess another 1/2".

When I did my Alpine in my truck, I have to use the jbl converter which was a pita to tuck out of the way and allow the head unit to seat fully in the dash. Not much room back there for things.

You've definitely installed it incorrectly. I have an 09 as well and it looks nothing like that.

And the GPS doesn't necessarily *need* data ... there's a standard navigation app that works just fine.
I do connect mine to data though so I can use WAZE ... although i've been having issues getting my unit to do the Mirrolink (I was able to get Mirrolink running once ... after that it doesn't work anymore. It just sits and spins...)
Otherwise, Bluetooth connected apps work (Spotify, Audible, etc). The Mic works like a champ on mine and the audio sounds fine to me (but I'm using the stock speakers on a 1st Gen)

Whats the standard nav app called? When I go through my apps, all I see is Google maps. :(

iGo, if i am not mistaken.

Received my 10.1" two days ago - 6 days delivery time from ordering. No taxes or duties.

I have a weeks vacation coming up next week, to look at the install. Hopefully will be quick and simple since i am using a 'universal harness' already, with my Kenwood deck to interface with the ISO plug. I got a few other interior tasks i need to do at the same time, so things might not proceed as smoothly, or quickly as i would like.

For all of the functionality of an expensive door-stop at the moment, it certainly looks the kit.

My Joying came with iGO. Which is a pretty nice Nav program. BUT, iGO is a commercial program Joying hacked. So you can't get the official map updates, you have to go through Joying to get updates.
    Online I use Waze.
Offline the best I found is OSMAND+. Free with 5 maps, $7 for unlimited. Add the Topo maps if you go offroad.

Another update. Lately my GPS has been taking a while to connect. (besides this, no issues, everything is perfect) Was thinking about getting a new antenna, but first I looked into software updates. Turns out Joying released a 6.0 update for this unit (link below). It was super easy. Downloaded the zip file and unzipped to a (FAT32) USB drive (SD card works too). Plugged it in and rebooted it. It installed 6.0 (and also wiped out everything, I had to start from scratch). GPS seems to be working a lot better now though. I only have a few hours on 6.0, so we'll see how stable it is, it feels smoother though. I will likely relocate the GPS antenna regardless; behind the head unit isn't the best place for ideal reception.

Still sitting on my computer room floor - had too many projects ahead of it, and then destroyed my shoulder mid-summer .. unfortunately.

I was able to bench-test it .. and it's quite the bit of kit. I see no reason why it shouldn't install cleanly in the dash - there is built in adjustability for screen angles and distance, relative to the dash.

hopefully in the next few weeks i'll get it in, before it gets too cold to be doing outside work, and as my shoulder resolves itself.

It's been a few weeks with this update and the GPS still works great. Seems like it was definitely a software issue. Definitely worth the update.
