Question...I just installed a new Mobtown front skid plate today. I went over a couple speed bumps this evening and I heard a very noticeable clunk each time.

I'm guessing as straight forward as the install that should have been, I screwed something up?

So the two things I noticed/realized after a quick inspection were:

    1. When I installed my Icon suspension, there were sway bar spacers that I installed and the sway bar is actually touching the skid.

    2. I did not re-install those two spacers that were stacked under the bolts for the OEM skid plate mounts. Was I supposed to reinstall those between the new skid and the frame?

Any ideas on what would be making the clunk? I'll crawl under it tomorrow....I'd hate to have to drop that skid because it was a pain in the dick to install by myself.

If your sway bar is touching thats probably the source of your clunk. I just installed the full skid set from @Mobtown Offroad a little over a month ago and have no issues. Been out wheeling and they do their job with no clunks. I still run the sway bar but dont have a sway bar spacer. I am on an OEM lift with LR UCA's.

It is the sway bar spacers that are most likely causing the clunk. We have heard this a couple times now but that is not a super common mod. Grind down the reinforcement rib a little to make clearance.

You don't reuse the spacers on the oem skid.

Remove the spacers and see how it drives. I bet you won't notice the difference...

Can I be ignorant for a moment? What is the theory behind the spacers?

I didn't question the reasoning behind installing them. I went total military mentality and just did as I was instructed.

Lifting the truck pushes the control arms down, changing the angle of the of the sway bar which can cause a difference in ride quality.

Hey all, just an update...I pulled the sway bar off today...clunk is gone and so far I can hardly tell a difference in the ride. If anything, it seems a little smoother.

I don't drive the truck like a race car on the road so I'm sure I won't notice a great deal of body roll.

Thanks again for the suggestions and help.
