What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

This discussion's making me feel really warm and fuzzy about the 6.5" fenders I ordered.

 

I'd probably drop is cash on something to fix it but I kinda feel like I might get a different vehicle in the spring (ducks head and runs), depending on when I decide to get a job again. So I don't wanna get too serious with stuff, but who knows.

Mud won't be a problem when the snow hits, just the slush then.

How about early retirement?

 

A 1st Gen with lower miles oooooor 2nd gen with probably with lower miles. Depending on what's around.
Only thing I'm really set in is it HAS to have the locker.
There's nothing wrong with my truck I just feel like I want something different to go to school.

Early retirement would be great at 19.

I've done pretty good at being unemployed haha... but I do better with a job.... I don't spend near as much on fuel when I don't have as much free time.

 

I just started a job with good pay (for me) working 60-70 hours a week - enjoy your free time. I'm so tired when I get home I don't even want to touch anything on my truck. Guess the grass is always greener lol.

 

It want be long and you'll have a Ph.D...I've had 2-3 days off since the last week of May

 

Yeah its an oem belt. has the arrows, had all of that line up. Oh well. Checked the driver side head and nothing in there. Guess I'll spend the next couple of hours taking everything off and call it a night.

 

I haven't actually clocked in since April hahaha, I worked for the Forest Service all summer but that was mostly play. Haven't had a job since the beginning of August.

I sound like a spoiled little kid but oh well.

 

Hmmm... all you did was water pump and timing belt and now your getting a tick - is it speed dependent or is it consistent?

 

2002 - 3.4L...your belt should have marks that line-up with the cams.

This is my mentality every week man. It's an addiction but i think im done after new leaf springs and a new carrier bearing

 

Work is good for the soul...whatever it takes stay in school, it'll pay off the rest of your life.

Looks like that was it. After cleaning it up last night and re-inserting the axle I haven't had any drops on the ground and don't see any new splatter after 100 miles today.

 

I learned real quick that the CVs and stub shafts like a sharp pop instead of steady pressure when removing AND installing them.

I fought my damn stub shaft for almost two hours until I got on TW and @Squeaky Penguin and @Blackdawg set me straight. When I finally popped it out on my old clamshell, the damn thing nearly flew up and hit me in the face!
