Did a search and I couldn’t find too much on this subject but I realize that some people find that the Tacoma seats leave a lot to be desired as far as comfort and adjustability. Frankly I don’t have much issue with the seat but I find that the headrest seems to position my head a little too far forward than I’m comfortable with. I’ve played with positioning as much as I desire and now I’m looking for suitable upgrades. Unfortunately I don’t think there is much of a market for them. Does anyone know if any other Toyota model headrests will fit in a 3rd gen Tacoma?

Heres an idea, try reinserting the headrest backwards to see if that suits your needs, it looks rediculous. but save you some money and it may be comfy. i've done it a couple times to nap in my truck :dancingbacon:

Haha. Actually did that and liked the feel but you are correct it looks awkward as hell.

Check the dimensions of the headrest i.e. post diameter, distance from each other...you should be able to swap out with others that have the same dimensions. Now you might lose features like active restraint if you have such a feature..

Will do. I’ll have to check if I have that active restraint too.

Well I can say that a 2016 highlander headrests don’t fit. My neighbor humored me with the attempted switch.

I would imagine that an auto upholstery shop could modify the headrests.

We do, I'd be concerned turning it around from a safety perspective,

i was thinking the same thing, when it came to getting rear ended, having it directly behind your head may be a good thing? hm.

    Turn the headrest around backwards.
Edit. The safety concerns you are discussing only one aspect of a crash. This seems of little consequence to me considering having your neck tweaked in a odd position for extended hours. Leaving the need for a good chiropractor.

Researched this subject in a few older forum posts. Another solution was to bend the posts to the desired angle. I like this solution but my only hesitation is the permanency or possibility of bending it too far. I guess if I mess it up too bad I can just get a replacement.

I guess this can be an issue for some. I find it quite comfortable, so probably not the best person to offer advice. I've been on a 3000 mile trip and had no issue, but to each their own. Respect other opinions. We're not all built the same.

Out of every vehicle I've had, I've actually never used a headrest with my head unless I've been in the passenger seat reclined sleeping.

I didn't know people actually used them while driving lol. I always have my head slightly leaned forward.

I ended up taking only one of the headrests and bending the posts maybe 5 degrees and it made a world of difference. The headrest no longer tends to "push" my chin to my chest.
