You can't, the index road is washed out and closed. But I have gone back beklar and came around to the other side of that but it's been a few years.

I’m in the same boat as you, looking for easier/moderate type trails at this time..
Checked this out yesterday on the way to Leavenworth. FS9716 up at blewett pass. It was easy, found a little snow part way up as well.

    Anyways, hope this helps

@wolcott @NorthwestCruiser - few of us on here apparently, I live in Snohomish right in the historic section. Might be fun to get some people together for an easy fun run.

I drive through town all the time so I'm sure you saw my old tacoma or maybe my new cruiser. How ever mine is still in the shop getting a bunch of fabrication done to it but I'm down to when I get it back!

Looked at the last few pages in your build thread and the truck looks awesome! Would build something like that if I had the free time anymore. My truck is getting lift/wheels/tires in the next couple weeks. Mostly bolt on stuff though since its new and the wife drives it as a daily some times. Should still be fun though!

Subbed. Lots of great info! My buddy and I have been looking for some good areas to enjoy our stock tacos but most of the places we've tried have been pretty deep with snow. We tried Tahuya a few weeks back and FS-73 this past weekend. Our trucks made it a decent way back on FS-73 in about a foot of snow but a couple of F250 got buried up to their frames ahead of us and blocked the road. Finally got them unstuck right around dark so that marked the end of that adventure.

We're planning on checking out Colockum Pass towards the end of March and then maybe hitting Tahuya again in early April. We made a wrong turn the first time we went to Tahuya and ended up on some pretty gnarly rocks/ tree stumps that we weren't able to get past in the snow so we had to turn back. Sticking to the more traveled roads next time will probably more productive for us.

Hopefully some of the snow will melt off by mid April and we will be able to try Stampede Pass and some of the other suggested roads. Does anyone have any good suggestions for areas that are good/ not closed around this time of year?

    Great info!
Going to hit some of these soon.
Stampede pass is what I hit as a first time for my truck a few years back, but always closed in the winter. I was looking for some deep snow to try my new tires out in, luckily we had a big rare snowstorm this year, tires were great in a good foot of snow!!

More than likely the top portion of stampede pass won't be passable till closer to memorial day.

I'm also wondering. General question to anybody. Me and a friend are planning to test out our Tacoma's this weekend. We want to camp one night but also get a little bit of 4x4 experience in. We don't mind hitting snow but since we're camping it would be nice to be on dry warmer ground.
If any one has suggestions for places we are grateful for it. Even heading out to eastern Washington would be fine. In fact we're expecting to do so with the big snow pack this year. We're located in Bothell area.
I'll have to do some research into Colockum Pass out near Crescent bar as mentioned by Iriish_11

Check out capital forest in Olympia. Nothing too crazy but lots of forest roads to explore. Grab a map and just cruise. Camping is easy down there as well, thought Cedar Creek road is getting pretty popular with tweekers lately.

I owned my truck for about 4 whole days before taking it on this mellow trail. Great views of the enchantments. And the drive up through the old burn area is surreal.

I did Tahuya stock last Fall before the rain. A friendly local at Camp Union Saloon said “just stay left” and the advice was pretty solid. But my friend in the passenger seat was an experienced 4Xer so that helped too. I imagine it’s much more interesting when slick.
