I bought them used from a member on here, he told me they were used as a trail spare - I don't think he ever used them based on the fact that I have the manual hub knuckles and he never did the swap. He mentioned there was a very small pinhole in one of the boots but I could barely see it. Unknown mileage but they don't look like they were used very much.

ah. You'll have to turn it up a bit. But when I rev it, it makes a distinct REEEERRR noise

 

Mine doesn't change with throttle. It's there with the AC, gone when it's off.

 

Making me think idler bearing then. When I searched, some people said the noise will do that when a load is put on the pulley. It looks like an easy-ish, cheap fix

 

You can replace just the bearing pretty easily for about $10. You'll probably have to get it online though, Amazon carries it. I can't remember the number.

 

Pull the idler pulley off and spin it to confirm. I heard the noise.

Gotta be somehow, but it is through something minor like bed fasteners and such. Have an easy way to ground the frame though, I'll make a write up later for it.

 

They never said "ess" about me spraying off the mud soaked truck.
In fact, the on duty dude even gave me extra time and helped spray off all the truck.
I usually leave it cleaner than when I got there...

 

My truck is about to make a long drive this weekend up the east coast. Since this truck is new to me I have been doing all the reg maint so I know where its at. I was having the long crank/weird hot start issue I have read about on here. I run fuel injector cleaner through 2 tanks of gas, (my truck is low miles and sat around alot). Didn't seem to help. I put in a new battery, Optima Yellow Top, removed and cleaned the throttle body and IAC valve. Which helped with the starting, but it still had a studder off idle. I had the local Toyota dealer do a fancy high-pressure fuel system cleaning/flush through the fuel rails and now its running smooth as glass. I Rotated tires, Greased all the zerks, there are alot, put in a radio and speakers, and new Xtreme Vision headlight bulbs as well as LEDs in the entire interior. After a really good cleaning and some plasti dip, oil filter, and oil change and a new K&N filter this truck looks and feels so much better than when I picked her up. I think my GF is getting jealous of all the attention the tuck has had in the past few weeks.

 

That's very strange, the old property cleaning guy was super nice to me when I used to come there in the Escalade and I wasn't ever hassled in my Maxima. Maybe something about a shitty looking old truck set him off. He was in the middle of lecturing me on stall cleanliness (after I sprayed my mess down the drain for him) and I decided I'd had enough and left with the engine about as loud as it can be. Plenty of other carwashes don't threaten to fine me for using their wash to wash my car, I have no issue never spending my money there again.

Besides, how are they going to fine a customer?!?!
I didn't enter an implied legal contract when I put my $$ into the token machine or entered their property.
Without proper signage or notification, their is no way that would stand up anywhere.

 

So I got my truck aligned after I finished putting it together, and it aligned wonderfully. Got back from the trip and asked Firestone if they'd touch it up for me and they said sure bring it in. Glad I did...



I managed to destroy that last alignment on the trip, guess I wasn't driving as carefully as I thought haha

 

The camber automatically goes into the yellow if it goes negative, but we only have two adjusters per side, can't change one without changing the others so yes some things will move to compensate for the others. They didn't actually make it noticably worse for the amount of caster they added. You'll never see .01 of camber haha. Tacomas lack adjustability so moving anything will change everything.

You didn't see how hard I was bouncing up rocks and ledges attempting to keep up with Frank. After feeling how it was on all of those rocks I am not surprised at all that I managed to change it that much, especially considering a lot of that was brand new parts and bushings. I imagine it settled a bit too with the weight of camping gear and bumper on there for a bit. No cause for concern yet, pitching most of this front end for long travel soon anyway.
