I was skeptical at first, I didn’t think this cat back system would live up to what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised. The tone is much more pronounced and produces a mellow thump. No drone at all in the cab, I have a MT and cruise freeway speeds in 5th and 6th and couldn’t produce a drone.

The install took a total of 25 minutes solo, it’s simply two bolts and 4 exhaust hangers.

I noticed some other threads about this exhaust and some stating it was the “same” muffler as the TRD OR so I thought I’d share some comparison pictures I took before the install.

I’ve been through all sorts of exhaust systems and this TRD cat back is the most pleasant sound I’ve found for a V6. Not to much but enough to tell it apart from the rest, price isn’t the most pleasant but buy once cry once...

Pretty cool. Nice review also. So how much was the pro? Or how many tears did it produce :playball:

No exhaust review is worthwhile without audio. :)

I’ll try to get a video up soon, I’ll also get some pictures of the clearance of the exhaust next to a 285/70/17 in the rear.

My experience as well, although it gained some tone after a week.

I put a TRD exhaust within 1000 miles of new, and impressed with the sound. Yes, video with sound is needed, I agree.

Most importantly the sound needs to be recoded when driving, as driveway revving doesn't do justice.

It really doesn’t look much different. Is the pipe diameter the same as stock? If so, the only real difference is the muffler.

I've had mine on for about 3 weeks now, and I absolutely love it. I read a lot of people saying it's a rip off, I think it's just perfect. It's not too loud, but still sounds really cool.

Last December when I bought mine there were 2 of the 4 Toyota dealers in town who were offering 15%off any Toyota parts. The first dealer I went to would not honor their own coupon but the second dealer did honor it and I ended up buying mine for around $594. I have been very happy with it ever since.

Did the same after raising a bit of hell for the trans reflash taking two hours. They mailed me a 30% off coupon and probably didn't expect me to use it. They (parts) weren't real happy and then tried to quote a $900 price until I showed 'em MSRP.

Is there a genuine hp gain? Sound is nice and all, but without a performance benefit I find it hard to justify the $600.

Depends on the inside of the muffler and the baffle system. I would love to cut the muffler open and see how they differ but I’m not going to cut open a 600.00 set up

As far as performance goes and real numbers I have no idea. I don’t think dynoing this truck is practical. After an ARB bumper, 285’s, warn 10K, skids, Safari Bars and sliders I lost any sense of “seat of the pants” power I could feel.....
