    More like a Cannoli. It is interesting however that Toyota is even talking about it given the powertrains are usually on a ten year cycle.

    I doubt the Tacoma is getting an update anytime soon. If it does it will probably be an updated 4cyl that actually gets good mpg. "De-tuned" Camry engine that produces torque a little lower in the rev range would be a safe bet. My crystal ball says Model Year 2021, that's when CAFE standards start to ramp up for a truck the Tacoma's size. Or as early as MY 2019, when the updated plant in Mexico ramps up.

    I can see them offering a Hybrid in a couple of years when the Ranger and the Scrambler come out.

    That article sucked, but if they offered a hybrid that got 30+mpg combined and/or leveraged the 100% torque of an electric motor in a way that helped off road, it would sell like crazy.

    My guess is that it may take a hit in the towing capacity department due to the extra weight of batteries.
