    Hey guys and gals,

This past weekend my CV shaft decided to take leave of absence from my hub. Last time I put it together I must have bent the circlip apart too far to get it onto the shaft, but it held for at least 8 months of driving, multiple trips, and a 4500 mile road trip. The circlip popped off while driving and the outboard shaft pulled out about 1 inch causing bad vibration. When I stopped and pulled the hub apart on the side of the road I saw the splines on the CV had turned and chewed up the bronze guide in the hub. As a roadside fix I just bent the circlip back tighter than it would've been initially and reassembled the CV/hub. That seems to be working fine for the 400 miles I drove it home, and on the way to work today.

Is there any cause for concern if that bronze guide got wallowed out a bit? I figured it was primarily to facilitate inserting the CV stub straight, where the bearings would be taking the actual load once the stub was installed. In my searching no one covered replacing the bronze bushing and I couldn't find it as an individual part so perhaps it's considered non-replaceable?

Any insight is greatly appreciated, Thanks!!
