Some of us spend too much time on the internet. Not something to be proud of.

One of my favorite crock pot recipes is Ham Shanks with Northern Beans (white ones)
I soak the beans overnight, throw the beans and shanks in the pot in the am. Pull off the meat from the shanks when it starts falling off.. Then I butter some bread, smother the bread with beans, ham and throw raw onion on top.

I use a crock pot instead of the oven . Crock pot on low for 6 hours. Sometimes 8 hours IMG_0017.jpg

Let me know how you like it. Like I said, I'm still tweaking the recipe, but it's pretty good there. I'd dare call it simple and satisfying, but every pallet is different. I usually have a rule with friends as far as recommendations on food: If you recommend 3 places to eat and they're all good, then I know we have the same pallet for flavor and I'll never doubt it when you tell me a place is "good". If they suck, then I'll never trust you again and you can eat whatever garbage you want.
Same goes for movies. It's good to have friends you can trust with that stuff.

 I have the same rule. The best thing about my ex was that she always took me to the best places to eat around LA and Santa Clarita that I had never been to before because I never went to those areas.

Leaving the store now. Got all the ingredients and gonna start it when I get back. Gotta find my blender though :anonymous:

I think I've got a pretty decent Ninja blender somewhere. I haven't pulled it out of the box since I moved back from Hawaii a year and a half ago :anonymous:

They're the competing brand so I'm sure they're both pretty good. I like that you can make soup in them too, the whipping action heats the soup so there really isn't a need to heat anything separately in a pan either. Lookup some recipes for that online too if you're still "broke" and want to "eat on the cheap" as your thread title states. The only PITA is that they're fucking loud since you're running the blender for a good while to cook everything.
