Would you enter a contest to win a vehicle you already had?

You guys are some opinionated forum users, so I want to hear from you! This isn't a trick question or anything about taxes, so don't make this hard. It's just, about perception, to help me settle an argument about, what vehicle we're giving away soon..

I'm totally curious to hear your answers!

Let's say, you just bought, a brand new Tacoma. And a company was doing a giveaway drawing, for basically, the exact same Tacoma.
Would you:

A) Enter the drawing regardless of what the vehicle was? basically for the chance of winning it? (Because really, you could sell it, sell your own, give it away, or just have 2!)

Or B.) would you really, not even enter the drawing, because you really wouldn't care to win the exact same vehicle you just bought?

A new Tacoma would be mad mod money for current truck. Enter!!!

 

Win the new Tacoma, leave it stock and use it as a daily driver. Then really mod the shit out of the current one.

 

Is there some trick involved here? Like does it cost a small fortune to enter this drawing? Do you have to let a stranger sleep in your bed with you?

No trick. Every drawing by law allows you free entry, no purchase required. Even if worst case you had to pay taxes on it.. I still argue, almost everyone would still enter, even if it was exactly the same vehicle as yours. It was just a difference of opinion today in a real conversation, and I was totally curious to see what others thought.

 

Some might see that as the prize.

I most likely would not enter as every time i do my information is sold and I receive phone calls from solicitors for the next 18 months.

 

Enter anyway. Realistically if there isn't any purchase necessary, people would enter for a chance at a free anything. I've entered various car giveaways and always figured worst case scenario, I can sell it to help with other projects. Really if I don't keep it, I'd sell or give it to a friend or family member in need. Can't remember the last time my father drove a new car.

 

Really don't understand whomever said not to enter. Unless the drawing requires giving your info to a company you REALLY don't want to spam you.

Win free truck. Pay taxes on it. Sell it. Profit.

I see what your saying.. If it wasn't about your information, and more about, winning your exact same truck, would you enter? And.. FYI, we're a small company.. so when we do launch a giveaway.. we won't be selling any info. We haven't for 10 years.. no need for that crap.

 

It depends on when and where I have to enter, I hate entering in public places because I hate dealing with pushy people with their sales pitches. Also If I just spent 30K on a new truck the last thing on my mind is another new truck.

What if it was, just a free entry? or, you bought some products from a site you trust, and that got you entered. no gimmicks or spam. just, thanks for being our customer, BTW, you're also entered to win something free. Now.. would you care if it happened to be the same truck you just bought? or would you see it and think, man. That would suck to win the same truck I just bought... I'm not even going to enter because, that would waste my time.

 

Mine would be on the easy $25k I could make off that new shiny truck.
