How long before changing super long life coolant?

My truck is 4 years old with only 29,000 miles. In my other cars I usually change out coolant every 4 years to prevent the coolant from becoming acidic and attacking hoses, gaskets and metal. I've seen posts that this SLL coolant is rated to last 100,000 miles but most recommendations also come with a time interval. Just curious to hear what other Taco owners are doing with respect to coolant changing intervals. Thx AJ

 

I use a coolant tester to decide it's condition.

Or if the vehicle is being serviced in a way that requires dumping the coolant, it gets new then, regardless.

 

I changed mine at 100000/7 years

 

So Blaise22 you went by the 100K recommendation regardless of time or did the 7 years factor into your decision? Out of curiosity did you flush the coolant yourself or have it done by Toyota? If it was Toyota what did they charge? Thx AJ

Any recommendations on testers? I see some that are $2 and others that are way up in price.

I use the low cost ones with a brand name.

They seem adequate for a shadetree like me.

Although I do have a fairly hefty tool set that includes a couple of unusual items for most home use. Like a homemade AC vacuum pump.

 

I went by the 100k interval. I did it myself it was an easy project.

Did you replace any hoses?

 

I'm in Arizona - did it at 45k.
Not hard at all.
Replaced upper and lower hose And replaced thermostat.

There are a couple of drain cocks on the block that did release minimal coolant.
Will see if I can find the diagram.

I tried changing the coolant myself but only released coolant from the radiator drain cock. Didn't know there were other release ports. At any rate on 2.5 quarts came out of the radiator. I've read that there is 13 qts of coolant in the system so the block must retain the bulk of the coolant.

 

the last one is hard to get to, i have helped one other do it but not myself yet since most have told me to wait till 100k.
