Diff fluid question

    Truck has 108k on it. Bought It last week and changed the plugs and they were still original. Almost positive the diff fluid has never been changed. Is it ok for me to use synthetic or would it be better to run dino oil? Thanks

    You can run either, Synthetic is better but costs more. Whatever fits your budget. Better to change with dino than to not change at all

    I do full synthetic on all my fluids.

    Just did a front and rear diff and transfer case fluid change with
    $30 Mobil 1 75W-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)
    Mobil 1 75W-90. Needed 5 qts total. I think.

    Easy to do just make sure you get a pump. Your life will suck if you have to squirt it out of the quart bottles lol.

    Make sure you undo the fill holes first then go for the drain holes.

    Easy as pie.

    if you use Amazon and get the pump they suggest, get yourself an extra quart because of the couple of ounces left in the bottom.

    I wonder why this question comes up so often. As far as I know you can replace any fluid with synthetic and it won't hurt a thing. Am I wrong?

    Ive just heard of people saying that replacing really old fluid with a synthetic can damage seals and what not. I've never changed diff fluid in my vehicles but I guess I'm wiser in my old age so just wanted to make sure it's gtg.

    did and was still a quart short. got 5 and the pump from Amazon, and ended up getting 2 more, 1/2 of which i still have. just a heads up.
    the tribulations of not working at the dealer anymore. used to have all of this stuff at my disposal.
