I didn't have a preference before buying the truck. I simply got the long bed because it came with the 5MT 2TR-FE.

Now that I haul a few cord of wood per year, as well as a few ton of pellet fuel ... I can't imagine a smaller bed. More trips than I already have would suck. Then again, there's trailers to make up for that.

Camping however, it's nice to be able to close the bed up with nearly a full size queen mattress. I can't flex my toes, considering I'm 6ft tall ... but it's pretty comfortable back there.

I didn't read everything, but I was worried about the short bed, so I put a rack up top that has been used maybe twice. I use the hell out of the bed on my short bed, and I find it is fine 90% of the time. The other 10% wouldn't be much better in the "long" bed either, and I pull my 20ft trailer then.

But most importantly the short bed fits in my garage.

My DCSB is absolutely, completely, totally and without any caveats, perfect.

...says the only person who matters.

This is truth. Ha! It's like a bunch of yearlings comparing antler size. Guess what, we're all driving Tonkas (Well, mine's a Stomper 4x4)

Another reason to love long bed... you can fit 6' fence planks and can close the tailgate so that you don' have to worry about them sliding out :)

I debated a lot when purchasing my taco and I had an 06 DCSB but I felt the lack of space and since we do a lot of family camping and now with two boys I need the space for all our camping things so I decided to get a long bed

Short for me. I use my truck too much in the woods and in tight spots... short is good, shorter is better.

I am waiting on a short bed cement and the dealer messed up and got long bed and didn't have prem and tech either or id of took the log bed if it would of at least had those features. I just think I prefer short bed because heck I do not use the bed except to haul trash and mountain bikes and fishing gear and stuff. Im 55 years old and don't plan on sleeping in bed on truck anymore. Also like the size of short bed for garage and getting around the city. Plus I like running to some creeks and streams on back roads and old oil field roads and stuff that get real tight. Short bed for me

My same reason for a short bed. I use the bed a lot for my business but needed double cab and wanted manual. Also wanted the off road. Couldn’t afford an auto, LB, OR, and saved some money by getting the manual I wanted and the shorter bed. Feel like it was a good compromise for me.

I was thinking about this today. I see a lot less minivans on the road than say 10 years ago. I swear the minivan people got tired of being made fun of (which is a LOT of people apparently) and they all switched to this new thing called a “trinivan”. So, I see what you’re saying, kinda. One could say the dclb is desirable, but really it’s the only option for people who are part of the minivan mass exodus. Which is a lot of people.

It’s funny how Toyota markets these as lifestyle trucks (and I agree)... it’s just that the people actually LIVING that lifestyle are like the 1% outlaw biker equivalents of truck owners. And 99% of the rest are those other guys. Strange days indeed.

You can make a fourth in a Long Bed not so much in a short bed.

I was looking for a DCLB but I got a killer deal on my '14 DCSB 4x4 sport so I had to get it. If it was just me and my wife I would of got an AC but with 5 and 6 year old boys, I needed the DC. I have a 6x12 utility trailer for when I need to haul stuff.

That's the best damn argument for a short bed I've heard yet. God bless, I love 'em, but I do not want another!
