Just looking out there. Has anyone pulled the trigger yet? I have a 2017 4 door Tacoma 6mt. I know the automatics have more electronics now. But what about the manual trans?

I have seen a few pics on here, two that I know of. I bet their dash is lit up like a Christmas tree.

I really want to SAS a 3rd gen, but with all the advanced electronics, I'm hesitant. I'm already fighting VSC with my truck and 35's. I can't imagine going SAS.

Yeah, there is that 3rd gen show truck that gets trailered everywhere.
If you SAS it you will lose all your traction controls, ATRAC, ABS. All that stuff. It's no different from SASing a second gen. Nobody makes an aftermarket front axle with tone rings, and the other Toyota vehicles with solid front axles with tone rings aren't the same as Tacoma rings.

Apparently when you SAS a 3rd gen you also loose your front driveshaft o_O

I'm having a hard time planning my SAS Rock Limo Build.

It has to be a manual and a double cab. So manual puts a 1st gen out, I want a 3rd gen, but I'm worried about the electronics and lack of low end torque, so that leaves a 2nd gen, but they are as expensive as a 3rd gen.

The struggle is real, not sure how I'm going to make it in the real world. But first I need to sell my Access Cab :(

Just find a relatively cheap 1st gen double cab and swap in a manual. If you can do an SAS, you can swap the trans.

I found a place that is selling base model OR's with manuals for 33.2K. I might go sport to avoid all the fancy traction control stuff.

I'm having a hard time finding a manual, clean, low mile 2nd gen.

Only downfall I've decided I don't like with my truck. I thought i'd like the crawl control and all that stuff but its worthless in my opinion. You buying another taco or getting rid of yours for a 2nd gen?

I'm going to sell mine, I need a bigger cab. To many times people have wanted to come along, but unless you're 5'3" 110lbs (how I like em lol), you ain't sitting in the back of a AC for very long.

If I could get 31 -33 for mine I'd be happy, just got to find a buyer, I have probably 38 into it.

I'm sure you'll find a buyer out there. Would be sick to see a legit SAS build!

Yeah, It's going to happen, maybe not for a year or so. I'm already collecting the parts. I have new 14" FOX coil-overs, rebuilt IFS steering box, Chevy 63's, about a stick of 2" 1/4 wall DOM and a bunch of extra 1 3/4" .120 DOM, a lead on a local Chevy HD disc brake 14 Bolt, and a place back east that will ship an 05+ Superduty Dana 60 for free.

I want to DD it so it's going to have a big ass sway bar, lol!

I had the same thing going on my 91 pickup. I had a 85 axle, flatbed and tons of other parts ready to SAS but ended up selling it all. Even the truck

My truck needs one. It drives good on the highway but it does have noticeable body roll when going around corners. Thinking about getting Currie's universal bar and trying to make it work the best I can.

I'm sorry, but IMO, that truck looks like straight up garbage. Maybe it's because I use my truck for more than advertising my small dick. I will, however, admit that this would make a good flood rescue vehicle.

You can get tone rings custom machined to retain ABS.

Not sure on the other electronics.
