my wife demanded i buy some gear because she LOOOVVVES me. i showed her the new KILM gear..well clearly, she doenst "KLIM-LOVE" me..more like "FIRSTGEAR-LOVES" me..

i'm done. i scored some used KLIM riding gear. Badlands Pro tops and bottoms. super good shape, EXCEPT the cigarette smells. last night, i pulled all the padding out and tossed it in the washer after watching every youtube vid on how to wash the stuff. they came out great..the tiniest smells left over..but no big, i'll rinse the rest out with fresh highway air. i bet it's the unwashable padding holding the leftovers anyways. saving the amount of money i did..i could stomach the stink.

    anyways..boots. done.

    sucks it's so hot out..

you guys ALL THE GEAR, ALL THE TIME?

Yup, I learned my lesson. Got a nice scar forming on my knee as a reminder to wear gear.

As for the smell... Febreeze? Gasoline? I'd rather smell like gas and oil than cigarettes

on my FZ-09, I wear my leather A* jacket, gauntlet gloves, and jeans. No matter if its 90+ degrees, or if Im just going down the road to get some gas.

On my Kawasaki Z125 Pro, I assume all the risk (top speed is 52), and have ridden with shorts, and flip flops. Its basically the same as a bicycle though.. so Im ok with that.

Scorpion helmet, jacket, and pants. Really nice Fulmer gauntlet gloves. Boots are just my regular hooking boots.
Went flying over a car(cars fault, he was drunk) a few years ago and with all the same gear I mainly had internal damage, one small scar where the jacket rode up while I was skidding. I will say that I now have a one piece full face helmet since the flip up part on my modular full face got ripped off in that wreck, scary thinking how badly my face could have easily been disfigured.

too hot for gear, too hot to ride.

My personal threshold for squidliness is over 100 degree heat index. Thankfully my jacket has little perforations to help it breathe, but that only really works if you are moving. I won't ride if it's over 100 degree heat index.

I always go full gear for the most part-helmet, gloves, jacket, boots and jeans if I am just out for a quick ride to lunch or something, otherwise it is full leathers, helmet, gloves, boots, back protector.

Only time I ride without my jacket is to the grocery store and back (1 mile each way with minimal traffic and speed limit of 35).

Skin and bones will heal but your head won't make sure you have the best helmet you can afford. With that said, it's still a smart idea to ride with full gear. Chances are when you go down it will be some idiots fault, not your own.
(Yes I am aware jeans and vans aren't considered "gear")

    Hardcore off road floor mats!
ATGATT (All The Gear, All The Time) is a popular saying in the BMW world.

If I'm on the big bike a(Tiger 1050) running around town). I'll have on my work boots, jeans (need proper motorcycle jeans), olympia jacket & gloves plus a full face.

On the scooter. I wear regular clothes plus a full face.

Some of my riding buddies have KLIM suits. Those are super nice!

I've been using an Aero Stitch Road Master 2 piece suit that was made in May 1992. It's in remarkable shape. Unfortunately it's also not mine. It's on loan from a friend. I really need to pull the trigger and get a suit for myself. First I need to stem the flow of new truck parts and divert that cash to the bike.

This is me picking up my custom Dainese jacket.... My wife loves me too, so she was ok with the price tag. I'm 6'8", so none of the jackets on the rack fit me. I got lucky with the pants, they're off the rack and a little short but my boots are pretty tall so it works out. I've got a Bell Race Star helmet too, and a semi-custom set of gloves. I cringe everytime I see someone in street clothes riding. It's your choice, but I just couldn't do it. But then again, I used to work in an emergency room and got to see a bunch of crash victims first hand. Stay safe out there!

I believe in ATGATT too, although I admit I never wore dedicated riding pants.

I don't mind seeing other riders with little gear on. It's their choice, their risk. I do, however, hate to see pillion riders with no gear. I think it is the responsibility of the rider to ensure their passenger is ready for the crash, not the beach/bar/etc.

Why no riding pants? If you don't mind me asking...... I've always been a little confused by that. The people with no gear just throw caution to the wind completely, but if you're concerned with safety and put on the full face, jacket, gloves, and boots why not protect those legs as well? Having worked in an ER I've seen my fair share of people who laid it down, and a lot of them were pretty mangled from the waist down. I have NEVER seen someone in an ER that was wearing full gear though.....

No good excuse, just lazy. Agreed that was a weakness in my gear.

I dont wear any gear when I ride. Whatever I am wearing that day is what I ride with. I ride a bike as a daily driver and I refuse to change into a ton of riding gear for a short ride to the store or work or whatever.

Tyoically- basketball shorts, t-shirt, running shoes (if going to work or gym) or sneakers

I ride daily too, it's easier when you buy clothes that you just wear. I've got half my gear on all day at work. The helmet can stay on the bike, and the jacket gets hung with gloves. I've lost enough skin because I wasn't wearing gear.
