I believe I read somewhere that it has to do with having both tail lights visible from different angles or something like that......

Is that what those are for? Like a quick release? I've been looking around for bed a extender and I keep seeing those brackets as an extra add-on purchase and wondering what exactly they do and if they are worth it? Not much info online about the adapters.

Do they make the extender a lot easier to steal though?

My only other question is if I have my Mt. bike in the rear, I'm just trying to figure how I could fit it in correctly, angled straight up or tailgate down and extender open or would the rear tire fit over the extender flipped forward.. sometimes I use tie downs and strap my bike up straight or if I'm in a hurry and feeling lazy ill lay my bike down sideways with the front wheel pointed up behind the cab.

Ok. One more question, with the bed extender open does the tailgate bounce up and down on the highway at all or is it weighed down enough to keep stable?

So the rectangular type might be illegal? Can anyone confirm?

Good questions. Another is if there's a way to prevent theft.

After reading more into it I have seen some folks put a bicycle style U-Lock from the D ring attached to the Extender... I would prob use a mini U-Lock personally..
