So...just bought my tacoma 5 months ago with 105k and right at 110k my head gaskets failed and ruined my engine :(. So I need help on what to do, I am keeping the truck but should I buy remanufactured or a used engine? I'm quoted anywhere from 3k to 5k in omaha nebraska. Anyone else have this bullshit happen? Should I replace the engine if it is as expensive as my car loan?

Back in 2014 i bought my 04 taco for $500 with a seized 3.4. I found a complete 69k mile motor from a salvage yard in AZ for $1400 shipped.

Which motor? I had a shop put a rebuilt 3rz in mine last winter and it was ~$3300 or so all in.

That sucks, that's low miles for a 3.4l (I'm assuming since you have a DC TRD) to have a head gasket failure. Not common at all, I'm guessing the previous owner probably overheated it somehow at some point. Good news is that 3.4ls are relatively easy to find for sale in junkyards and in private listings, I'd look for one yourself and have a shop do the install if you can't on your own.
