I just bought my first Tacoma (a 2001 Sr5 ext cab) The previous owner had an aftermarket radio, door speakers, and a large speaker in the rear passenger side seat. There is also a box under the driver seat which is connected to the amps, but I have no idea what it is. I am a complete noob to this stuff, so I really have no idea what I am talking about, I will post pics of the amp soon.

My question is, can I get rid of the backseat amp, and whatever is under the drivers seat, and still keep the aftermarket radio, and the door speakers? Also, if I were to try to sell them how much would they be worth?

We'll need pics and info about all the equipment that is currently installed. The more info the better with this.

All looks like pretty expensive equipment. Do you know if one of the amps is connected to all the door speakers. If it is you'll have to keep that amp

Never heard of those Fresh Tomatoes amps.

You'd probably want to rewire things anyway. Basically you'll just have to re-route the wires from the head to a single amp under the seat and from that to the doors for the most general layout that won't take up space and still sound good.

Yeah I'd take your seat and center console out and take a look at the wiring and how it all connects. Then you can choose to reroute or new headunit, amp or whatever it is you'd like to do. I'd be more than happy to walk you through it all.

the jl mono amp and sub you can remove (unhook wires from battery first)

that other amp is most likely a 4channel thats running your speakers. i cant see it being in the way at all so why not just keep it there?

yea just take the sub and JL amp out. I had a rockford power HX2 12 in my passenger side rear seat back in the day with a single channel rockford 1800 watt amp :der:. I think i sold them both for 200$ about 7 years ago......

Let's see, jl is one of my favorite brands, jvc is junk imo, and rf is cheap but functional.

Any reason you want it gone? Used amps and subs are usually borderline worthless except to high school kids. You usually see them for sale when they have been beat to hell and back.

Search youtube for instructions on how to remove the radio. If you lucky you still have the factory harness back there and they just used the factory wires to run to the door speakers. You may be able to reconnect the factory wires to the head unit and remove both amps. If they ran new wires to the door speakers it would be easier to just keep the amp on the door speakers and remove the subwoofer amp. Get some pics of the wiring being the head unit and take it from there.

It is in the way, and I never use it. If I can get some money out of it, that is a plus.
