Hey guys I have a quick question. I am in the process of putting back together a major pain in the A** Tacoma that a lot of people have worked on.
It belongs to my friend that i have been helping for the past year and a half.

It has had major issues and I am close to getting it back together.
so i was doing the cooling system and filled it with water to try and heard a little hissing/leaking noise and tracked it down to this pipe i believe.
I looked a the pipe and its bent.

    My questions are.

where does that pipe go to.
And is it bad that its bent so much, and will that effect anything.

It doesn't seem like it used to effect anything when it was up and running. Should i just tighten the rubber back onto it and test it that way?

    Thanks

    JP

Try to find some of those factory style compression clamps you can remove with pliers. Hose clamps don't seem to work well, but like ^ said if you can get it to not leak, it's fine.

if the tube is not cracked/cracking at the actual bend you might be able to reshape it... My 96 3.4 had the exact same issue. I took a deep socket that would fit inside the tube and a very small (machinist hammer, brass) and gently tapped the point down, then inserted the next largest size deep socket and repeated. In the end I had to take about 3/8 of an inch off of the end of the tube to get to "good" metal. It beats the hell out of replacing the heater core.

Thanks guys. Yeah i was leaning on heater core. I sort of reshaped it a little bit then put hose on better so its tight now and no leaks :)

Yep, someone tried to remove the hose using pliers and didn't realize how easily the metal pipe underneath bends.
