I’ve got three quotes on a cap for my 17 DCLB. Only one says they have a connector which piggybacks off my 7 flat round trailer connector. The other two quotes want to splice into my new truck which isn’t happening. How are yours connected?

Mine is tapped in to my new truck wiring. That's the standard, and how almost all of them are done. I did the wiring on mine myself, so that I could be confident it was done right.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
Not a big deal to splice into the factory harness if you do it correctly. That is pretty much the only option to make it a clean install. You will not have to actually cut any of your factory wires. To do it correctly do it yourself and just remove the outer sheath of the wire then solder the connecting wire to it. Use electrical tape or heat shrink (doubt you will be able to get a piece back there) to seal it up. If you let the cap dealer do it they will probably use scotch locks and they will fail and weaken the factory wire. You have to start chopping on stuff at some point. Mine as well get it out of the way.

I was afraid of that! I’m going to call that one dealer that said they had a pigtail that connected to my trailer harness. I would solder as you said. I just don’t want headaches later.

Sounds like a pain if you ever tow a trailer.

The way they described it went on the back side of it. Where the harness plugs in. That would be perfect
