Spare tire mod

is there a mod to get a 285/75 tire mounted under the truck where the stock tire was? I really don't want to take up space in my bed to carry my spare. I've seen the million ideas to mount in bed, but what about underneath? Am I SOL?

 

Yes cut the outer brackets

 

285/75r16 can fit. There's a bracket underneath I couldn't get a picture of but I just cut a v notch out of the bracket and bent it up and added some paint to the cut metal.

 

Awesome thank you. I know exactly what tabs/brackets you guys are talking about. That's the first thing I thought, but wasn't sure if they had an important purpose.

 

I fit a 285/ 70 17 under the bed .I completely removed the two "ears"or " tabs" on the spare mount .

 

Smack those 2 brackets down a bit and you are good to go

 

Do you have any pics of that? I tried stuffing my tire up there, but it didn't want to fit between the hitch and the pumpkin.

 

I found that my 285/75R16 would rub on 3/4 to full compression. Had to re paint the back of the pumpkin.
