Not a rust issue. I live in California.

And I kept the pin clean and lubed per manufacturer.

Still locked up tighter than a gnats ass. Assuming it’s from road dust or other airborne contaminants getting into the locking mechanism (ball bearings) and either damaging them or caking them up.

You keep the wedge lock torqued to this? Just curious, this is a great security feature of the hitchgate. Someone would really have to work to steal mine haha

Absolutely man! I switch it between trucks frequently so it fits my needs perfectly! I just installed the dual rotopax mount this past week as well. Couldnt be happier!:D

Damn.. that makes me want to rethink mine before it locks up on me.. what did you end up going with as an alternative to the locking hitch pin?

Do you ever do any towing? I feel like no hitch pin could make things interesting lol..

I’m just using a standard, drilled hitch pin with a cotter pin to keep it from backing out.

I’m also not risking $1000 of stuff using it. For your setup I’d keep it locked, just check that pin regularly.

Hmm maybe I'll look into a cotter pin type

    Like dis.

There’s a 1/2” size also, not sure what we use. I assume it’s the larger 5/8” and the 1/2” linked here is for Honda Civic sized receivers.
