I bought a brand new TRD OR MT in May 2017.

    Short review at 10k

    Good
-still looks great to me (except for one issue).
    - I didn't like the BBP color at first, but now I feel it's the best color.
    -no mechanical or electrical issues
-back-up camera is a necessity now
-even without OV tune, I feel the car has adequate power.
-on board navigation is better than I initially thought.
-went off road twice (off road park, and actual forest) and it performed great.

    Bad
-entune. I listen to Spotify almost exclusively, while it works 80% of time. It drops sync often, and sometimes the entune controls don't sync while the audio syncs.
-bluetooth, my phone calls have dropped sync multiple times. I have a Nexus 6p and over time many quality issues with this phone and Huawei in general have surfaced. so it very well could be the phone causing all these issues.
-entune: I drove a 2007 work stripper with no options (no power windows either) for 9 years, so entune is a huge upgrade for me. Even with this being the case, I really feel that entune is trash. I would rather have andriod or carplay.

    Ugly:
-the chrome grille still sucks, and I hate it. I have been modifiying SR5 grille for the last 3 months, and I am almost finished.
    - I do experience the diff howl, but I don't really care about it.
    - There are way too many Tacomas (3rd gen) on the road here in the Bay Area. I see just as many Tacomas as i see Camrys, F150s, 3-series and Teslas. Even the popular mods are all over the place like the TRD pro grille, the BAMF grille, no badges, lifts etc. I feel like a sheep in this car. It's almost worth buying a legitimate TRD pro just for the exclusivity. I am just glad that I bought a BBP vs. the millions (exaggerating) of quick sand, black and silver that I see on the road.

Overall, even with the ranger coming out in 2019, which I really I like. I think I will keep this vehicle for at least 7-8 years.

Well I am trading my 16 diesel colorado on an 18 tacoma trd off road auto was plan. But kind of what u point out wonder if I should go trd pro in Calvary blue. Not sure on Ranger but I trade every 2 yrs and about 60k miles. Sure like to see the Calvary in person but don't think that will be possible and still get order in to get truck in Dec. So still trying to decide cement off road even though I think they will also will be all over. But nice write up
