Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

I just went through my “ECU_TCU” folder on my laptop...

I have exactly 20 different files from Matt. Damn.

 

That gives us an idea just how hard he's working to get this right....plus all his other tunes he's working on...

 

For people who are confused.
You only need to do the serial registration once. After that it's just reading (once)

Then flashing files.

How it has worked has been like this:
1.01a first version tune
1.01B
1.02
1.02B
1.02C - shift

If you're a new user jumping in the only thing you need to worry about is the file you get (1.02C)
Otherwise ignore the older stuff.
If you haven't sent me a READ of your ecu, then I can't sent you a tune to match.
So for a new user, never before flashed or read their ecu. Just start from the beginning.

If you have sent me a READ and are waiting, it's on the way.


For people who are confused about 04bXX

It is the file version of your ecu. The software tells you when you click identify, it's also the name of your stock read file.

Don't stress over it. It's more important that I know your ecu version that you do. And following my instructions will lead to it

 

Had no issue with PCMflash on the computer I used previously. Now get this every time,

 

It’s been posted a few times here, disable windows defender

There is a way to allow windows defender allow PCM flash. But I don’t use windows computers at all. I bought a $150 dell laptop on eBay just for this truck.

 

In case your having problem disabling windows defender... Open windows defender then go to settings, on the left side is a menu the third item down is called (real time protection) untick that box. you should be good to go otherwise it will delete pcmflash from your computer never to be seen again or prevent you from unzipping the file all together.

 

Does that mean this is a go for Mac users? The overall OVTune that is?

I loaded this tune with it.

 

Will we automatically receive the files, or do we need to shoot a request to OV?

Sorry, yes to elaborate I am running windows through a using virtual machine running through my Mac computer.
(This has been covered many times in the thread)

You can use virtual machine.

My iPad Pro serves me well. Especially with iOS 11, no need for a MacBook.

Might be a small delay, gmail just locked my email for sending so many files haha.
used gmail for years never seen this happen.
should be back up in no time.

 

I mean you are sending out a bunch of viruses....
