    Hey all,

I just moved to Tahoe in August from the east coast, and the snow the past 2 days has me wondering which tires would be best to run out here (all seasons)? I have Mastercraft AXT's now, but they probably won't be enough. Thanks for the help!

Duratracs are a winner for all terrain and are excellent in the snow.

I ran bfg all terrains, before the K02 and they were fine. Had them on my 4runner while working at Northstar everyday and never had an issue. Tahoe from the East Coast is a drastic move. Hope you enjoy the snow.

I live down on the coast but ... we used to have a house in the Sierra south of Tahoe about 800 feet higher than lake level. ALL (caps intended) the locals who had to get somewhere (work, kids to school etc) had snow tires on a separate set of wheels. Also, ALL of them carried and used chains. I kno folks from the Midwest and East Coast know snow, but when you get 3 feet overnight and then the sun comes out, everything melts, and turns to black ice in the evening, it's not quite the same as plowed and salted roads in some other cold parts of the US. That said, there may not be snow again till January (see 2012) or it may snow continuously until June (see 1998).

I moved here from New England and thought snow chains? Are they kidding? And then I got a set for my Honda Civic and then I thought these are amazing!

I've lived at the Lake a couple times. Once with a Datsun pickup with ignition problems and another time a '74 Pinto. Had to pick my route to work or ride my Kawasaki 175 enduro. Had to chain up the Pinto a couple of times on other occasions. I work for a company that in my early days transferred me about every 6 months.
