We have all done stupid things, me probably more than most, and I really hate to be "that guy" but f it. If I remember right, Tacoma's have some where around 1,400 lbs payload capacity. That's before you subtract out 700ish pounds for the bumpers, sliders, driver (assuming no passengers) and any thing else in the truck. So yeah the truck is at least 1,300 to 1,400 lbs overloaded. Just because you upgrade your springs doesn't mean the truck is rated to haul more. Your safer and better off renting a trailer that can handle the load, of course you need a brake controller installed also. As someone who had a buddy get taken to the cleaners by an insurance company because his truck was 600 lbs overloaded (yes the state patrol weighed it at the accident), you are taking a huge risk.

For those concerned about the safety of those around me and the safety of the truck you will be comforted to know that everyone appears to have survived the ordeal.

It personally would not put a ton in the back of a Tacoma or any midsize - but give you atta boy. This is why I kept my trailers - a ton is MUCH easier to tow, load, and won't beat up my truck. Thanks for the pics

TRD-OR 4x4 auto DCSB payload is 1175(manual 1155), then you can go ahead and take off for modification weight.

Personally, I really don't mind when people overload to this degree, just as long as they either stay off the main roads ... or put their flashers on while cruising at <45mph to their destination. The potential for injury and loss of life/collateral damage just isn't worth it.

    I have the light ones...
    just saying they aren't light.

I was thinking it was my shocks are set too stiff (fox DSC) and even on the softest setting ride is so harsh. Now convinced its the leafs are just too stiff.

It's pretty normal for multi-leaf spring packs like yours to feel much stiffer.

I'm hoping they will soften up a little over time and once I start loading them.
Just got the truck back on friday so still getting used to it.

For what its worth the heavy duty springs on the fox are stiff too.

I seriously doubt they will. They are heavy duty for a reason.

I don't have the heavy duty ones.
Got the medium duty dakars. They say they're supposed to be the same as factory lol.
