I agree, was just poking. The only time I don't use pre shredded is in any recipe that calls for melting, because the powder they put on the cheese keeps it from melting as well as it can.

Got a batch of 15 bean soup going in the crock pot right now. Tossed it in there with a couple of onions, some garlic, a can of diced tomatoes, and a pair of ham hocks this AM. House will smell awesome when I get home...

Meh. I soak them overnight beforehand, which knocks a lot of the gas content out of them. I also add a strip or two of Kombu and a tablespoon of cumin to the pot when I add the ingredients and that also cuts down a lot on the fart factor.

I love my crock pot, but learned to love my pressure cooker even more.

I really only use mine for roasts or for canning. I like the Crock for the fact that I can switch it on when I leave for work at 6:30 in the morning and have a meal basically ready when I get home at 6:30 that evening. I'll whip up a quick batch of drop biscuits or something to go with whatever I crocked, and it's a LOT faster and easier (and more likely to happen, some nights) than trying to prep a full meal right after I worked an 11 hour day.
Pressure cooker cooks things faster, but you have to be there to keep an eye on it instead of letting it do its thing unsupervised while you're at work. :notsure:

I guess you could let it go unsupervised, but...

    Wut.
For my purposes that's like powering a walking-beam steam engine with a nuclear reactor, lol.

I use a pressure cooker that's digital. It shuts off after cook time is reached. I'm sure it could still blow up but I'm always round and I work from home so no worries there.

    That's what I'm using. I have this: https://www.amazon.com/Power-Pressu...1980&sr=8-2&keywords=xl+power+pressure+cooker

Yep. There is another brand that gets great reviews too but I can't remember the name right now.
