Seemed to go quickly. I wonder how much was people calling into the area and how much was the destruction of existing towers? I hope they'll install some temporary towers to restore service-we've become so dependent on cell service these days.

    No doubt.

I think the three major fires are well over 57k earlier. The spread has been insanely fast.

Only thing I’ve read about that is AT&T is working in restoring service. T Mobile said they will do so when it’s safe.

AT&T made no such precaution in writing, anyway.

I plan on upgrading to another form of comms, even if neither are that effective. Having one and it being useless is a mood changer.

Thinking to order a Baofeng and use it for keying into local emergency channels and comms as available.

And you'd at least be able to communicate enough to let someone know you were OK.

    Yes.

We did pretty well in our exit but the holes were glaring, and I’d rather be more comfortable even if it’s just placebo.

Couldn't agree more! Sub'd for any suggestions regarding being able to monitor and communicate emergency activity.

    Thanks
I was not in the effected area, but had relatives in the effected area, and was able to use a police scanner app to monitor some activity.
Comms were broken out into different sub channels that were assigned to specific areas.

Been monitoring REDCOM traffic all day up here with my Baofeng, definitely helps putting the mind at a little bit of ease

Geez getting rained on with ash. We now have a fire in our honey run canyon. It's easy of Chico and West of Paradise. Looks like it's coming on in to town now.
I'll be here drinking beer and wife is having"salad"

Whats the frequency for REDCOM? Any suggestions on equipment or other channel frequencies you can advise?

Oh man. News reporting 10 fatalities. 68K acres burned. No change in the number of homes-still at 1500.

When I went to bed it was reported as a few hundred acres in Napa(obviously more than that)and when I woke up over 5k and part of Santa Rosa were in flames. I haven't been home since Friday so I don't know what to expect. Anybody else live near downtown? I'm a few blocks south.
