    ******************UPDATE*******************

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Brian is at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, where on of the world's leading PML researchers resides. He has had several MRIs of his head, been treated with steroids to stop the brain swelling, and is now receiving experimental drugs which have been shown to block viral cell invasion and prevent viral reproduction and expansion. When he arrived there over 2 weeks ago, he could not speak, had no use of his right side, and had no vision in his right eye and very little in his left. His left leg and arm flailed uncontrollably, and he could only occasionally squeeze my hand when I asked him to. Saturday he spoke his first words, although he only repeated what was said to him, not original speech. He also smiled...although it was a little lop-sided....it was a smile. And to show that he still has a sense of humor, I told him I was going to give him a "Wet Willy", and touched his ear with my finger, and he reached up from his bed with his index finger extended and tried to put it in my ear! We do not know how much he will recover, and if he does, how long it will take, but there are signs of progress. Intense physicaly, occupational, and speech therapy will start today, as they now appear to have something to work with.
Again....thank you all for your caring support, thoughts, and prayers! It has been very comforting and helpful.
    Happy Easter!
    Mark
