hi all, I live in northern Utah and am already tired of removing ice and frost from my windows in the morning. I would like to add a remote start. I am wondering what is the best make and model or starter for a 11 Tacoma. Just need a one way remote. I know they are not a plug and play item and will have to tap into existing wiring, but what's the easiest to hook up.

    Thanks
    R

Viper 5806V is what ive been eyeballing for my 2012, you will have to get an override module also. This one inparticular is a security system/ remote start but if memory serves me right than Viper also has a model thats purley a remote start system

I've heard viper makes good products. Do they make a immobilizer override or is that from a different company

If Viper makes one, i havent found it. Im pretty sure you have to get that from a different brand, but i havebt seen any over 50 bucks. Amazon is selling that security system for 195 right now

Do you have factory keyless entry?

I installed an Excalibur add-on remote start system that functions through my factory keyless entry remote. I use it pretty much every time I start my truck. No issues and pretty easy to install IMO. I did the same setup on my wife’s 4Runner. I think it was around $75 with the immobilizer bypass module.

Edit: The Excalibur omega bypass was a piece of fucking shit that caused me a lot of anger. Do not use that item. I ended up with a Fortin unit that worked flawlessly after the nightmare with the Excalibur omega piece of bullshit. It’s been over 2 years and I’m still this pissed about it if that tells you anything.

Do any of these work with the manual transmission?
