Will add lots of pre-load to your coils so if you don't have a lot of weight on the front it will be stiffer, also based on how stiff your coils are to start.

Anyone have an ads setup on a 1st gen reg cab 2.7? I'm in the process of ordering a set and am concerned that 650lb springs are to much for my truck so I plan on 600 but am I going to regret that decision as soon as I start adding weight?

I have them on my 02 DC 2wd 3.4. The 650lb were pretty harsh so I swapped them out for 550lb and I like the way it rides. I’m at ~2.5 inches of lift and only have ~1.5” of preload. Just so you know preload is measured by how much the spring is compressed with no weight on the strut. Most people on this thread measure the threads and refer to it as preload.

Now I should probably have revalved as well but I didn’t have the equipment nor the knowledge to properly revalve to lighter prings. I should also add that I don’t do any high speed wheeling.

I’d probably go with the 600lb if you are going to add any weight. But I’d look into how much your front end weighs versus the 3.4L.

If I could do it again I’d contact filthy motor sports and let them do the math. It’s $100.00 for them to recommend the proper spring rate for your application. But it could have also been a waste of money IDK.

How much armor do you have on your 2wd DC 3.4? I'm not currently running much other than a skid plate but a winch and bumper are In the plans. Ls once this damn 2.7 dies ( eventually never) but by then I will be willing to upgrade springs. I'm just worried if I do add any weight I'm going to need so much preload I'm going to find spring bind before I get all of my armor built. Any help would be great.

Ok thanks for the info I should be pretty safe going with 600 and adding armor. Most of my offroad is slower speeds but do like to hammer down every once in a while. Hopefully the compression adjusters are worth the money. I can't see why they wouldn't. The extra tunability will be nice when my truck is used as a Dd then crawling/wheeling and finally trails and fields as hard as that poor 2.7 can go.

So I had to reverse the brackets too. Works out perfect. Love this setup @HeadStrong Off-Road. Big difference over the pro setup. My mechanic buddy kept saying this setup is awesome.

The clickers are great! I have them all around on my 3rd gen and the adjustability is great. Setting them to 0 dampening gives a plush ride and is great when you won’t have any bumps at all, like the highways. I switch up from 5 to 15 clicks of the 20ish it provides so you can take bumps at speed. Call up ADS and ask them for more details, nice folks over there.

So yesterday I saw some grease/oil on my coil over that looked like it could have been a leak. This is what I found when I pulled it off today....Looks like there may have been some “misting” but I’m not sure. It could have also been some WD-40, or something I ran over. Anybody else notice this on their shocks?D51B4444-8E6C-4309-80ED-7FF6703CB2C4.jpg53A5A412-A01A-4D1D-B60C-FA000E3721A1.jpg

Hit it with solvent to clean it off, if it comes back or pools at the lower rod end, that's when you worry about a rebuild.

I just wiped it off with a rag, I’m rebuilding anyway so I can relocate the reservoirs using different fittings. I also looked for any dings on the shaft. I didn’t see anything so who knows where it came from.

Still need to get the carrier drop kit and maybe axle shims. I get a vibration right at 10mph.

Looking good!!! You are going to love the adjustability of those clickers. Don’t be afraid to experiment.
