IMO around here that truck would be at least $14-15K, no matter the 2WD/4 cyl.

 

Doesn’t matter, it still needs maintenance due to age. Would need to change all fluids and belts, tires,etc.

Pricing depends on the area also. In California I'd imagine prices would be quite high.

I ran a KBB after reading your message and found that it is worth like just under $12K. Add in all of the high California taxes and fees, and $12,000 isn't bad at all!

 

I'd definitely pay $12K for it if it had a new frame. I kind of doubt it since it's in California, but if I see her tomorrow I'll ask if it got the frame replaced...

While I was on the phone, I happened to glance up at my rearview and see this guy approaching my truck to take a picture of my license plate. I absolutely flipped out, leapt from the truck, and jumped in front of my license plate, and start screaming at him not to take pictures of my license plate. He said "Too late dude" and I just got back in my truck and locked the door. He drove off while I was on the phone with 911...

Also, I did call him an asshole, but only after he roared up in his Maserati and started demanding that I move my truck. Actually, specifically I said something like "Why should I move my truck when you're acting like an asshole?" I didn't outright call him an asshole, and I didn't use any other profanities, flip him off, or threaten him.

FYI, like I said before, we shook hands and all is good now...

What I'm afraid is that something else will happen that I don't foresee. I'm just getting fed up with people who think the answer is to be confrontational right away. Honestly, I'm getting fed up with Doylestown Borough in general. Why? Let's see...

March 2013: Stopped by police while walking around taking pictures, and interrogated for 20 minutes by 4 cops...

October 2015: This happened

November 2016: Made the mistake of beeping the horn at a group of drunk college kids walking down the middle of the alley in front of my bar; One of these clowns charges up to my truck, while it is moving, and starts pounding on the hood; I slammed on the brakes, threw it in park, threw open the door, and screamed at him "DON'T TOUCH MY FUCKING TRUCK!" I was (A) Bigger than him, (B) Probably smarter than him, and (C) Stone cold sober while he was absolutely plastered; I am a very nice guy and had no intention whatsoever of kicking the guy's ass over a couple of potentially nonexistent indentations in my hood, but he didn't know that; He made a few wiseass remarks, I flipped him the bird through the rear slider after getting back in the truck, and continued down the alley while he staggered off with his friends to the next bar...

November 2016: Moments after the first incident with the guy pounding on the hood, some drunk asshole walked up to the back of my truck and stole a bag of ice out of the back of my Tacoma while I was delivering ice to the bar I work at on Thanksgiving Eve (while I was MOVING!); The bouncer saw the guy grab the bag of ice, and Drunkus Moronicus then decides to hurl it full force back at my truck; The bag bounced off the roof of my truck and luckily didn't cause any damage...

April 2017: Tacoma's driver's side mirror guillotined off when oblivious woman flung open her passenger door as I was coming down the alley in front of the bar where I work.

May 2017: First time EVER getting pulled over in the 6 years I'd had my license at the time (Got driver's license in May 2011); First and hopefully last time getting a speeding ticket (43 in a 25 MPH zone, fought it, got it knocked down to 5 MPH over which is a smaller fine and no points).

September 2017: The incident with the guy in the Maserati...

And those are just the ones noteworthy enough for me to remember! With regards to the 2013 photography incident, I do not fault the cops because they were just doing their job, though I think they were a wee bit overzealous and "messed with me" as one TW member suggested a while back (asking to see photos on my digital camera, taking turns questioning me, and, the thing that pissed me off the most, asking if I lived by myself at the address on my license, with a roommate, or if it was my parents' house; Who the hell cares? It's my current address and that's all you need to know).

As for the drunk guy hitting my truck in 2015, the way the local police handled that made up for any lingering disdain I had for them as a result of the 2013 incident.

Around Doylestown:
Jaywalking is something I do regularly and really don't care if other people do it, but there is a way to do it. I make sure there are no cars right there, and that anyone heading in my direction can see me if they're farther away. More often than not, drivers will stop and wave you across...

I'm talking about the shitheads who dart out from behind cars or buildings, sometimes in crosswalks when the light is red but typically outside the car wash. Doylestown is full of clueless pedestrians, and I've gotten used to that...

I love Doylestown and most of the people who reside there. Same goes for the out-of-towners and tourists. I get along great with most of them. The problem is that Doylestown was not designed for this many people, and when you have such a large volume of people you get a lot more assholes and weirdos. When you work at a bar, coming into contact with these people is inevitable. You be nice and polite, and if they don't leave you alone, then you notify another coworker or one of the bouncers and they take care of it. When I'm walking or driving in Doylestown off of the clock, I'm in a different mode. I just don't want to be bothered, but I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that in Doylestown and most other small towns this just a fact of life.

Doylestown is great, it just seems to have a large number of asshole pedestrians and extraordinarily bad drivers...

This is classic Asperger's Syndrome...

I have more or less gotten over that encounter with police for taking pictures almost 5 years ago, but I now become extraordinarily defensive when asked for ID in certain situations, no doubt as a result of that incident.

If I'm buying alcohol or cigarettes (I DO NOT smoke, but most of my coworkers do, and on a busy Friday or Saturday night I end up going on a cigarette run to the Wawa at least once), or some other age-restricted item; If I'm trying to enter a bar, strip club, or other age-restricted establishment; If I'm trying to board a commercial airplane; If I'm renting a vehicle; If I'm trying to enter a government facility; None of those bother me in the slightest...

I've been pulled over twice since the 2013 incident, and that doesn't bother me. The second time I got pulled over (Labor Day Weekend 2017), it was 11pm and the cop asked me if I'd been drinking (which I hadn't), and I was so scared I was literally shaking; But getting pulled over for a legit traffic violation and asked for your license when you're the one driving the vehicle is way different in my opinion than a police vehicle rolling up to you out of nowhere while you're walking on a public sidewalk taking pictures, and the first thing the cop when he gets out of his patrol vehicle is "Can I see some ID?" And as if one officer in a marked police SUV isn't bad enough, trying having two more marked police vehicles and three more cops (one of them a plainclothes detective!) showed up in a matter of minutes and start interrogating you...

Luckily, in the nearly five years that have passed since that incident, almost all of the cops know me and know my truck. They know where I work and who I work for. Quite a few of them also know that I have AS, including the Sergeant who initially stopped me. They all know I like taking pictures of trucks, they know I mean no harm, and they leave me alone.

Being know as the guy who got hit by a drunk driver while heading home from work also garners quite a bit of sympathy...

Anyway, I tend to get REALLY pissed off when I get carded at the grocery store or the Home Depot while using a business check to pay for something (It only happened at the grocery store twice; once in a 2015 and once in 2017). I realize that this is 2017, and my name and address are probably out there for anyone who wants them (a perfect example is this goddamn Equifax security breach), but it's just the principal of the thing...

Even my boss thinks it's absolutely stupid that I get carded while using a business check, especially when the employees at a lot of these places know me because I do business there so often. Business check means it's not a personal check; It has the address of my place of employment, and even the owner of that business does not have the address listed on that check on her driver's license; What good will it do you to see my address?

One time I got into a huge blowout with the people at Home Depot people a business check from the bar where I work was rejected; Not due to insufficient funds, but a clerical error on the bank's part. I flat out stated that I refused to give them my license because I didn't want the police or the feds showing up at my parents' front door questioning me about whether or not I'd committed check fraud. Once I was assured that this was not the case, I calmed down a bit, but it was still a very tense situation...

My boss, bless her soul, said that I could have handled the situation better but said that it was partially her fault for the check being rejected. Whenever my boss sends me anywhere to buy something with a business check, she now goes out of her way to make sure everything is in order. When possible, she sends me out with her credit card or cold hard cash because these forms of payment have been historically less problematic than the checks (especially the cold hard cash!). My boss found that ordering stuff online and paying for it ahead of time, then sending me to get it, is also a great way to bypass the "Can I see your ID?" bullshit, but the retail lackeys have gotten wise to that as well...

My boss sent me to Home Depot (just recently; the other incident was in early 2017) to pick up a new mini-fridge for the bar, and it was already paid for, but the woman at the service desk needed my ID to "add to the order." This was after my boss told them what I looked like and gave them my name. Sometimes she even tells them what I'm driving (I probably have the most distinctive 5-lug 2nd gen in Central Bucks). You need to "Add it to the system?" Bullshit! I know my boss told you who I was and when I'd be coming, but what if she hadn't? I could have been anybody and just walked out with a free $200 fridge. I honestly think they primarily just want more personal information to sell to third parties, and the other half of it is that they want to feel important by making customers show ID in order to complete the transaction...

Also, fraud and identity theft are rampant these days and that certainly doesn't help...

THE VERDICT: The honor system is pretty much extinct now...

I also photographed an FJ Cruiser, a Sequoia, and a few old school Toyota pickups during my trip to California to visit family...

I even managed to photograph, get this...

A 2nd gen DCSB 2WD non-Prerunner! I have never seen one in person, ever! In Monterey I saw two of them! I would prefer a DCLB over a DCSB because of the extra bed space, but I particularly like the non-Prerunner 2WD DCSBs because they look a lot like a 2WD Hilux ute that you'd see in Australia (especially Australia) or somewhere in Europe. Yet, it's a 2nd gen Tacoma and it's 100% legal to drive on public roads in the United States!

If its Cali the price will be jacked higher than the location I looked up.

It's a great deal considering what new trucks sell for, and the truck is pretty much new.

 

In my area of western NC, Regular Cab prices are inflated and sell at over KBB. In part, because they are not made any more. That price would have been very unusual here, closer to $16K+ for a 2wd.
