I was doing an inspection on my truck today and noticed some rust on my yoke, and on the rear differential. Is this something I should try to stop or just leave alone? I have broke a yoke on a truck before and don't want to do that again. It was an old ford at the time and I had to go to a scrapyard and jump under a bunch of old trucks before I found the right one. What do you guys think? I don't want to compromise the linkup between the differential and the yoke, but I don't want it to rust out on me and break one day because I ignored it.

Search rust prevention or rust repair you will find some incredible threads on how to treat this. I would get on this the sooner the better

I would spray on some rust reformer and then frame paint... doesn’t look bad but an ounce of cure and all.

Yes, get on it before it spreads to the frame.

If it's not flaky, just spray some satin Rustoleum on it and call it good. I roll around under my truck on a creeper with a wire brush and a couple of cans once a year. I just got rid of a 98 T-100 that still had a decent undercarriage considering the age. I also spray WD-40 or something of the sort in the weep holes on the pinch seam at the bottom of the rockers and cab corners. I hose it up in there really well and let it drip back out.

    yep..
I really like brush on Rustoleum oil based paints. Red oxide primer and then satin black top coat. I've found it stops rust way better than spray paints. Hit it with some fluid film afterwards, or skip the paint and just fluid film it.
