I think it's way too much spring rate and should only be used if ride height can't be achieved by adding preload due to coil bind height constraints. Unfortunately heavier springs have less travel so as you go up in rate you can't add as much preload without running the spring solid. So I see how some people need a 700 lb/in spring to get ride height, but I wouldn't just immediately go there.

They will be an upgrade to your current set for sure, so probably a good idea if it's a good deal.

You can always a) revalve them or b) sell for what you paid and buy kings. Or decide that you like the Icon ride better and sell the fronts...

Yeah I went ahead and pulled the trigger on them, they arrived yesterday and I slapped them on my truck last night. Haven't really gotten to test them out yet other than driving round town where it does feel a bit better all around, but I'll be doing a trail run over the weekend so I'll really get to see how it feels then. The Kings up front are surprisingly stiff but I figure it's likely due to the 600lb coils and with no added weight on top of them, yet (1st gen stock coils are 490lb).

Wheeled the setup on Miller Jeep Trail last weekend, really happy with it though I might knock the preload on the Kings down a little bit. Between that and the 600lb coils on them with no added front end weight, they were riding a little harsher than I'd like. It was fun though being able to ride the trails faster without having to worry about blowing out my 5100s, lol.

I've found all of this discussion fascinating... and have another question. How do hydraulic bumpstops fit into the equation? Are they just bling?

They help your suspension from any hard bottoming out and dampens the end stroke. It's more impactful for fast offroad driving when your driving over multiple whoops/bumps. And yes they are also for bling

16 psi, I always go between 16 or 18 psi on most 4x4 trails. Little lower in sand, little higher on 2wd friendly trails.

Ok. My 18 tacoma dbsb off road is due to be in mid Dec. I drive 80 miles a day all hyw 40 miles each way 65 to 75 mph . 400 miles a week. On the weekend I put another 250 miles on and about 120 of that is hwy 65 to 75 and rest is city driving and some back roads and mud and rock trails or fields to get to fishing holes in creeks and rivers. The look is very important to me and want a lift and could go even 6 in bds with fix and springs. I'm leaning towards either icon stage 4 with add a leaf or new springs totally in rear or king front and back with adj extend shocks and add a leaf or new springs with uca. I want my ride to be best ride on road daily as possible and still get that good stance lift and 33 in tires and looking at either cooper sst pro tires or nitto ridge grappler. Like the looks a lot of cooper sst pro.muds and hear they are great and white but feel being hyw a lot ridge would be lot quiter and smoother but not sure how much better. I'm leaning king set up and need to decide. Thought someone could answer with experience with what I am after best application

Kings FTMFW. I just switched from Icons to Kings, would not go back. Better on road, although not a huge difference, and massively better (smoother ride, better handling) Offroad.

I also did the BAMF rear shock relocate to get more flex.out of the back.

For tires, better off-road, means noisier on road. I used to us Dueler AT/Revo2s, which we're good, but had weak sidewalls, and have switched to Goodyear wrangler Durataks, noisier, but better off-road and equal onroad.

For a lift, with money as no issue: dirtking upper/lower control arms, and a Dakar or AllPro leaf pack for the rear.

Anyone compared the Bilstein 8112's the these other options? Are the even in the same class? Debating between King, Icon, or Bilstein 8100 series.

I went kings. When you're at the price point you'll be looking at for top end, whats a couple hundred? Might as well have the best, and I am not disappointed!

I drive with the ICON 2.5 CDCV with remote reservoir (front and rear) with ICON RXT leaf springs, and I have to say they ride awesome on and off road. The cool thing about these ICON shocks is the Control Dampening Control Valve (CDCV) On the road I set the adjuster at 4 which is on the softer side and when I Off Road I set to 7 a little on the stiffer side. Definitely get what you pay for!

Glad to see that after being away from this thread for a few months that Kings have clearly overtaken icon in votes! I got kings all around and damn if they don't make my suspension the best it can be.

I also think the reality of Icon is getting out more and more with guys who got hosed and had to simply move on. I want to say that 75% of the guys I knew up around me had Icons have now swapped to kings. Its never too late folks!

Sounds like a solid and well invested set up...that said I would be curious of your thoughts if you rode in a king set up? You would be able to provide a good comparison I would think.

Never had kING shocks but no complaints with ICON’s.

    Hey TW'ers
I've got an 08 SR5 LB 2WD Prerunner with 80K and the lower control arm bushings are worn out and going to replace them with factory ones but the front shocks are starting to leak. I'm planning on going with a coil over replacement from either ICON, FOX or KING. I like the stage 2 from Icon as it's a complete kit and should meet my requirements for daily driving along with mild fire roads here in AZ. I like the idea of shocks that can be rebuilt and valve to my needs.

I'm really looking into the Icons but now looking at Kings.. Thoughts?
