My first post on here, new to the Forum

Installed 5100s at the 2.5 hight about a week ago, I happened to be under my truck today and noticed that the outer boot on the passenger side is torn and threw grease or oil all over that side.

Im 99% sure that those are the original boots and axles so Maybe it was just a little bit of a change in angle for the original boots (2007) or should i think about a Front Diff Drop kit.
I have read about the 2nd Gen not being worth it but would like some input if possible.

My truck is pretty much my daily and don't do any real off roading...or wheelin...muddin as you guys might say. I'm sure a lot of you might say just change the boot but ironically i have a set of CVs that i had bought a while ago and probably have those put on. Im just concerned that it will just keep happening.

    thanks.

Is it possible the boot was torn during the install? 5100's set at 2 1/2" height should not damage the boot. It's possible there was already a small tear that opened up during the install, or even from the more severe angle due to lift.

I didn't see anything when i was looking at it before the install but i guess anything could be possible. I took it to a shop after i ran into some New England rusty bolt problems so I wasn't there to see it all do down.

    thank you.

Have you had it towed on a flatbed recently? If so, they hooked a J hook on the control arm and tore the boot.
