Whats with Toyota limiting 12Vdc power outlets to 10A ?

    Tacoma's, Tundra's, Camry's all have the DC power outlets limited to 10A.
    Any good portable air compressor such as a Viair needs 15A.

    Seems like if Toyota used 18 gauge wire, it would be good for 15A easily.

    I could swap the fuse but then if something happened they might decline the warranty.
    Of course you could run a power block and other options.

    What did you do ? Buy a 10A portable compressor or rewire ?

    As does every other vehicle.

    That's a Viair / (and other) 12v compressor issue, not the car manufacturer. They shouldn't be putting cig-outlets on anything that requires more than 10a IMO. No only can't the wiring take it, but neither can the socket. Do not just add larger gauge wire and bigger fuse to a standard cig-female socket, you'll need to find a cig socket specifically rated for more than 10A.
    Plus, those sockets are so crap, you probably not going to get a full 10A from it even if you find a compressor rated at 10a

    Use the supplied alligator clips on your battery. If they are not long enough, run some decent wire direct from the battery (or starter) along your frame rail to some frame mounted jump posts.
