My Tacoma rarely averages more than 20.5 in mixed driving. This part of Texas is mostly flat. What are people getting real world on 2016 or 2017 Tundras? I'm really thinking of stepping up. Not 4wd unless there's not much difference.

16-17 is about what I'm getting with only 1500 miles on my truck. If you keep it at 65 on the highway you can get a little more. My 2015 Tacoma was averaging 17-18 so it's only 1-2 mpg difference for all the extra cab space and towing capabilities.

20 mph mixed isn't bad. Most report 23-25 on the highway. The Tundra will only see around 19mpg on the highway and will take a big hit in the city (12-13).

My old man has a 2014 Tundra and the only thing he hates is the mpg it gets as he is constantly driving around the city (almost zero highway). So his mpg is well under 15mpg. Says he likes the truck but going from his old T100 to the Tundra was a big difference in MPG.

Think he would have been better off getting a Tacoma for the work he does instead of the Tundra honestly. Haha he just got the Tundra because it was a Toyota.

    *is a v8 Tundra

Where it beats that “ram” is everywhere else !
Payload, towing , ride, resale, comfort, reliability , longevity, ......Ram that’s just funny !

Never below 20 mpg, right now at 21.1, normally around 20.5 on my 2016. Mixed driving, and a heavy foot:) Think I got lucky as far as
mpg..... My brother has a 2017 and is normally at 18-19...

My 2012 Tundra crewcab was the best fulll size truck I have ever owned . It would get about 18 hwy, about 3 mpg less than my last GMC (did not like). It usually averaged 11.5 around town. My 2016 Tacoma Off Road gets 16 in town and around 20 hwy. I also really enjoy my Tacoma after getting used to such a hugh transition in trucks.

I will say after owning pretty much any variation of all the Big 3, including HD trucks, I love my 18 tundra the most. The way the truck drives, steers and how much lateral seat room I have is amazing. Plus my wife A)loves it as much as I do B)loves curling up into a little ball to sleep on road trips since it has so much room, a lot more than previous trucks I’ve owned
