That's what I'm thinking too, I just had my first headlight bulb burnout and my truck is almost 11 years old. The factory lights are so much better in my Tacoma than several newer vehicles we've owned in the last few years. We've had 2 brand new F250s since 2012, each of them had worse lights on bright than my Tacoma does on dim. I don't have any complaints with the factory bulbs. I get flashed on dim fairly regularly, but my headlights are properly adjusted, I have the original housings and my truck has never been wrecked, my mom gets flashed in her 4runner as well... it has fantastic lights(it's a trail package with the projector lights).

Guys- the Philips Vision Plus +60 are great bulbs. Slightly brighter than stock, I’ve had a pair going for 2+ years now. A steal for $15 bucks on Amazon. Can not do better for the price.

The Philips Vision +100 are also great bulbs. I’ve got a pair going 1.5 years now and still kicking. In theory, they should burn out before the +60’s. The +100 are slightly brighter than the +60 but if you want to play it safe on $ spent, go with the 60’s.

Either way- for the money, you can’t do better than these two bulb choices. They knock the socks off the Sylvanias and are like half the price.

Edit: I just noticed the date stamp on my previous posts. I guess it looks like I’m over 2 years now on both sets!

The Philips X-Treme Vision bulbs look great for $21. Supposed to last 450 hours, but some of the reviews on Amazon say they aren't legitimate Philips brand. http://amzn.to/2gdoM1G

If you get bulbs “shipped and sold by Amazon” you’re gonna get real bulbs.

Wouldn’t bet my life on it, but pretty close to it.

So the +130% set are out.
    IMG_6023.jpg
The +30, +60, +100, and Crystalvision bulbs all show similar lifetimes and are all sold and shipped by Amazon. The +30% set show a 400 hr lifetime, the 60,100, and crystal vision all show about the same lifetime at just over 300 hrs.
I'm thinking the +60% bulbs are looking like the best value here, other than the sylvania basic bulb with a life of 1110 hours.

I wouldn’t get the 130’s. Simply because I know already that the 60 and 100 are plenty bright and the 130’s would surely burn out more quickly.

The 60’s are the all-around best value, balancing life and brightness. Bright and last a good while. If you don’t mind sacrificing a bit of life, then go with 100’s.

But as I mentioned— I’m at 2+ years with both the 60’s and 100’s.

I ordered the 60's a few minutes ago. I'll post pics compared to the almost 11 year old factory bulbs when I get them put in.

I think you’ll be happy. I bought both 60/100 a couple years ago. After seeing results— I bought two additional sets of 60’s so I have them on standby when my current sets burn out. Haven’t needed them yet. I just didn’t think I’d ever find bulbs this good for 15 bucks again.

Maybe you know this already. Don’t touch the bulbs with bare hands. If you do, wipe them off with alcohol on a cotton swab. I use vinyl gloves while installing so as not to leave deposits/oils on the bulbs. They’ll burn out faster if you touch them.

i like my Osram Nightbreakers. I've had them for a few months now. Really bright with good cutoff. Slightly "yellow" compared to my LEDS i had before, but got tired of people flashing me bc they thought i had my brights on.

if you have the cash, the PIAA xtreem whites are about the highest lumen with the longest life I could find. there are brighter bulbs out there, much shorter life and may not be compliant for street use.

PIAA lights are also developed and engineered to be near perfect in construction and clarity. The bluish tint to the glass is not a coating it is the glass itself.

    I like them.

Any halogen long life = low output. There is no free lunch. High performance bulbs come at the cost of bulb life, inversely long life bulbs come at the cost of performance.

That's why the OEMs use the bulb they do. They are the middle of the road compromise for decent light and long life. I just suggested those because the OP is apparently burning through headlight bulbs at an abnormal rate.

A little brighter and further visibility on dim, I like them so far. We'll see how long they last, if I get more than a couple years out of them I'll prolly buy them again... if not I'll just go back to the basic sylvania ones. The package I got says like 170 hour lifetime, I guess we'll see.

One thing I noticed more than anything is how much better I can see off to the right side of the road (along the ditch/shoulder).... it's one of those things I never realized I was missing.
