I have a 2009 doublecab TRD. Got off work and started my truck up as normal to let it warm up. It started ok then just stalled it did this a few times I checked a few plugins under the hood and found nothing loose tried to start it again and everything worked fine. I’m confused need some suggestions please

Need to find out what your are losing, spark or fuel...need to check for cranking RPM when it won't start to eliminate CKP/CMP issues.
All maintenance be kept up, spark plugs?
MIL ON? Checked for any codes yet?
Could just be a dirty throttle body?

I saw this symptom on another thread a while back, the problem was an aftermarket transponder key. do you have one?

It’s the factory key. Just bought the truck a month ago through a very reputable dealer and they showed me all the service records. It seems to be all up to date on everything

Op I am also on another Tacoma site and we have been seeing quite a few complaints over the past couple of years about stalling and higher rpm cut outs that are being traced to the fuel system and specifically a clogged fuel sock around the fuel pump and the fuel pump. Not saying that is your problem but a fuel system pressure and delivery test per the factory specs would be in order if the usual suspects such as bad plugs, bad fuel, bad maf sensor turn up nothing.

Sorry but Service records mean jack..... unless you’re the original owner, service records are blind trust from both the dealer and your perspectives. I wouldn’t put any weight on them.

Thanks for your suggestions I will check into the things that you have all said. Drove the truck all day yesterday with multiple stops and starts no problems. Maybe just Friday the 13th bad luck.

same here, no codes happened twice when key in, truck off and taking a 15 min nap. Tried to start, ran 4 seconds, died. tried again, died. Took key out, put spare in then back in, started. Will start now with 1st key. Wish there was a way to see a code for this.
Red key symbol on dash was never illuminated when key was in.
