For 10 bucks more a month it was time to trade up. Went from a heavily modified 07 FJ 4x4 to a 11 Taco TRD Sport 4x4 dbl cab with extended bed new tires and rims. Thrilled beyond belief but will also miss the FJ. The Taco is immaculate though barely fits in the garage. It has tow package with auto lsd trans and V6 4.0 engine. Well maintained carfax and appears garage kept rust free frame. 108k miles and drives like a dream. Anything mechanically prone to fail early in these models? Great to finally join the Tacoma clan!

Thanks all. Quick question and confirmation. I think i have a body lift in the back and coil spacers in front. Can someone please confirm? Also just learned the 5100s can be used with stock coils and set to .75 (?) and this appears to be my first desire and at only 400 bucks (hoping i can install). Would i need to AAL to match for the back to get rid of body lift? Just looking cheapest route to get modest lift and level achieved. Pics attached for current setup. Thanks for the help

Also pretty sure im already rocking the cheapest lift option so i guess the 5100s are the next step up. Its the leaf packs and getting the 5100s to work with stock coils and achieving level im pondering. im a total noob at leaf packs, the TSB for them and such. No indication previous owner had them changed so i hope all is good. Appears to be a 2 + 1

Definitely just lift blocks in the back which is good since it would be expensive to remove a body lift. You might be surprised at how affordable 5100s with some good OME coils are. @HeadStrong Off-Road

Thank you boogie. I am definitely going the 5100 route. Am I completely stock up front or is that silver top piece another spacer? I am not thrilled with the spacer/block lift and kinda worried I am causing harm to other areas of the truck. I do not take it off-road, yet, so do you think I will be okay until I can get the funds together to get the 5100s bought and installed? Was thinking I could maybe just do the front first and remove that spacer (if that's what it is).

Thank you for replies. Looks like ill be going 5100s all around, OME 885s up front, and deaver AAL in the back. Hopeful I can retain stock UCAs with this setup. Will the spacer lift I have currently mess anything up as long as a drive like a grandpa? It really rides good at the moment however I am coming from a 3 inch lifted FJ on 886 OME coils that could turn a ant hill into a mountain. Spent too much on the truck to have these spacers/blocks cause harm and having to replace other stuff as a result. Just wanted to get opinions if these will cause harm to other areas of the truck and if they will be okay in the meantime until I get the funds to do the billies, 885s and AAL. Search results on block/spacer lifts are mixed. Just need peace of mind lol

Just don't hit pot holes at high speed. I had 5100's and 885's on mine for a while. The ride was definitely better than stock. I got about 1.75" lift with that set up. I put a .5" spacer on the top plate and got 2.5". Had zero issues with alignment. If I was going to do it to a new truck I would get 887's.

I still miss my FJ. Just couldn't beat the practicality of a pickup. Still drool every time I pass an FJ, Amazing offroad vehicle. Congrats on the new rig o.p.

Aye I miss the FJ pretty bad however the Tacoma is my dream car. Have wanted one ever since I laid eyes on one when I was 15 - I'm 34 now :-/. When I Bought the FJ I was originally looking for a Tacoma but was swayed into a FJ based on the fact that they share almost everything.

As for fixing the setup the prev owner had on this Tacoma (space/block lift) I am thinking the block lift in the back is more an issue than the spacers in the front. Hoping I can score some OME Dakkars and some 5100s to fix the block lift then ill move to the front with 5100s and OME 885s.
