    yep..
This is a weird one and I'm beginning to question my sanity trying to figure out what this was, how it happened, or if I'm having a mental break and imagined it.

I was driving today, about 30mph, rural area, and heard a loud *POP* or cracking sound from my left ear, coming from the driver side curtain above my left ear. Startled the s*** out of me. I pulled over and inspected everything and all looks fine.

It sounded exactly like one of those paper wrapped popper things you would throw on the ground as a kid, but much louder. Has this happened to anyone else, and should i be worried about anything airbag related?

I was startled the other day by a loud BANG from above my head on a country road until I realized it was a large Black Walnut seed pod dropping off a tree and hitting the roof! Damn thing was slightly bigger then a golf ball, and just about as hard! It hit about 6" behind the windshield. If it had hit the glass, I think it might have cracked the glass itself!
Did you happen to look and see if there is a slight dent in the exterior sheet metal from something hitting the roof?

    Any other vehicles?

Rocks hit my windshield and roof line all the time.

No dents or new chips, I drove back and checked the road for anything. No other vehicles. No trees above. Man it was so weird. There is a few houses there, maybe it was a kid that threw a firecracker at me because it was loud and it came from the side of the truck. I think I'll pull off the trim where the bags are and do a quick inspection then call it quits.

The AC Tacomas were under a recall for the seat belt bolt holding the tensioner coming loose. Not sure if you have gotten yours checked out by the dealer but might be worth it. Usually they just pop the panel off check the torque. If its loose they'll tighten it. If its damage the replace the whole assembly
