I may have tweaked a few things...
Front shocks went on last night without too much trouble. Took my sweet time with it as it was probably the most involved automotive work i’ve performed on my own.

Found out that the front Monroes I took off were actually Quick-struts so the coils are at least newer than the originals.

I thought I would share my alignment experience from yesterday. There is a TLDR at the end, my stories can go on a bit...

I started at Go Tires on Stockton Blvd because they have good Yelp reviews and alignment is only $40. As soon as they opened someone came out to greet me. I got a good vibe from this guy, he was very nice and spotted my new Bilsteins right away. However, after looking at my rims he said he could not do the alignment because his equipment attaches to the rim and he would scratch them. Procomp 7069s don’t have much of a lip to hold on to. He recommended United Auto Service on Fruitridge.

United Auto doesn't have great reviews on Yelp. But if you look through them a bit you'll see it's because their customer service is lacking. Knowing this ahead of time I was patient when I went in and that really helped. It seems like most of the workers in the garage know just enough English to figure out what you need. The owner (presumably) is the one that will talk to you about your service, invoice you, etc. After I first walked in another customer asked if I had been here before, and went on to confirm everything I had read about their customer service. He also pointed out at this time that at least three employees had pulled up in Tacomas.

After the first alignment the owner took my truck around the block to test it and had it put back on the lift. The steering wheel is pulling left, something that I was already experiencing, so he wanted to run it again. Before going back to his office he points at my Tacoma and a 1st gen in line behind and says, 'Good trucks, they will last you 300-400,000 miles'. He tests it again and the left pull is still there. He shows me all the numbers are good and suggests I check the rack and pinion bushing to fix the left pull. Alignment was only $50.

    **TLDR**
United Auto Repair on Fruitridge for $50 alignment.
Pros - Good price; shop knows and respects Tacomas
Cons - Hard to communicate with many of the employees; customer service is lacking.

So I was looking over the shocks that I pulled out of the previously installed quick-struts and I see that they are both stamped with left side part numbers. Monroe's website gives tech data on the shocks in the quick-strut but not the coils, but I'm wondering if the coils are different the same way oem coils are?

*Emailed Monroe but their phones aren't open until tomorrow

Sorry for delayed response, I don't frequent the forums much anymore. It is indeed Sourgrass.

On another note, I finally got my gears broken in and took the 80 out. FB_IMG_1508134441916.jpg FB_IMG_1508134435286.jpg FB_IMG_1508134396930.jpg

Do you still have these and do you happen to know if they are the 885x's?

I'm thinking of getting 5100s soon and think I want 885s.

    Thx,
    Mark

The post was meant as joke.

Yes I do, don't think they make a X version of these. 886X don't come up on search. There 5yrs old.
They gave me 2 5/8" lift, bumper, winch, rack, sliders and plates. Was a little soft for me, and nose dived on braking.
When I replaced my isolators, I noticed 1 did sag a little DS, so could use them to help driver lean a little. Rated 590lbs.

If you wish to try them out, you can, I'm not going back to them ever.

Wheres all the SacTown Disc Golfers at?

Just found this disc golf thread, and there doesn't seem to be too much Sacramento representation...

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/disc-golf.439904/

My home course is Shady Oaks in Orangevale, Definitely no shortage of courses in Northern California.

Nice! When I was there yesterday there was a few tacomas in the parking lot. Which had me wondering if any of them were on TW as well...

That is a good set of books. Once upon a time I hoped to be a carpenter... Now, I drive my Taco and work on computers.

Been going around the house looking for stuff to donate, recycle, or send to the landfill in an attempt to declutter. Saw all these books and decided I had to let go of my dream of making furniture. I don't think I can afford it.
