I did try to search first, so forgive me if this is out there already. Please link me!

My front left (driver's) side turn signal/DRL bulb went out (I thought)... This is the newer one that came when they replaced the entire headlamp in the recent recall... an amber colored bulb.

No big deal, I got a new pair of them at Auto Works, fixed... I thought. Next time I drove my 2010 Tacoma, it was out (the blinker goes double speed when only the back light is working). I have pulled it out and put back in the new bulb, three times, and it solves the problem but only until the next time I drive my truck.

So, I switched the one new bulb for the other new one that I bought... and it worked... for a day and a half... and again it is out!!!

    Any ideas???

First instinct. Check your grounds and light wiring harness connections. Remove, clean and replace.

There have been reports of consistent failure of rear turn signal bulbs being related to headlight problems, either wiring or socket related.

I will try taking a Q tip and alcohol to clean contacts in the bulb socket.

The socket unplugs from the harness. Swap the sockets side to side and see if the problem follows.

Thanks... I just see a pair of tiny wires attached to the socket with no obvious disconnection point. I will look closer!

Wow, what a great link. If cleaning it doesn't change anything, I will see where the wires come out and order the part. Thank you!

PROBLEM SOLVED... I did not have the new bulb inserted deep enough... It requires such force that you almost would break the glass (it seems)... I just pushed it into the socket harder than before and it CLICKED into place. No more intermittent working!
