I just bought my truck a few weeks ago from my cousin. It has 160k. He told me about this before I bought it but neither of us are too sure what it is. When the truck is in drive and you come to a stop, sometimes it feels like the engine cuts off or “hisitates” before accelerating again just as you hit the gas. Like In the new vehicles that have the engine that shuts off when you come to a stop, it almost feels like that. Obviously the engine is not stalling, it just has that same feeling. It almost feels like it idles so low (around 500 rpm) that It has to get up to a higher rpm before driving. It doesn’t really seem like it’s slipping because it accelerates as soon as you hit the gas but for a quarter of a second it jerks before moving. I’m doing an awful job explaining this so I’m sorry if it’s hard to understand exactly what’s going on because I don’t have the best understanding either. Like I said, most of the time it doesn’t happen but it happens enough for me to want to do something about it. Thanks.

No not yet. What would that include other than spark plugs?

plugs, wires, and depending on the mileage the coils too. oil could also be affecting idle so the valve cover and spark plug grommets should be replace including the grommets for the bolts.

fuel filter change probably wouldn't hurt, and clean the throttle body & MAF.

Take a picture of your throttle body and post it. I need to if you have the electronic drive by wire throttle body.

I’ve also realized that it may be more so when I’m braking and come to a stop rather than accelerating. It’s hard to keep track of since it doesn’t happen every time and I just bought this truck. As soon as I come to a stop, the truck jerks a bit. I’m not sure if it is also when first accelerating as I let off the brake and onto the throttle. I just drove it during lunch and it did it as I was braking and came to a stop.

You don't have the drive by wire throttle body. That's a good thing. You may be feeling axle wrap. Grease the drive line really good, especially the slip yoke. See if it changes it.

4Runner Trail wheels and Toyo Open Country ATII tires 265-70-17. Cosmetic stuff like Pro grille and OffRoad black bumper trim, vinyl delete on side, added hood graphic, OEM tube steps.
Axle wrap. And good luck getting rid of it. I've done everything under the sun except lift the truck and use a more robust leaf package.

Rear brakes out of adjustment can have some effect on it to. It's axle wrap and also nose diving when the front brakes area applied. Causing rear end to raise higher if rear brakes are out of adjustment.
