I'm speechless. Back in the 90s, I did the White Rim Trail in my '77 FJ40 along with two other couples. I had no idea what else was out there! If I had only known. Well, here I am with my new taco, and I'm going to plan on returning with much more knowledge and a bunch of maps and GPS! Thanks for all those beautiful posts guys! Absolutely awesome!

Jeezuz! Seems like you guys had an amazing time on this trip. Glad for the trip report as me an the fam along with a new Tundra buddy are doing a small part of this trail at the beginning of sept. My wife and I are HUGE fans of the NPS and have wanted to see the big 5 of Utah. We're only gonna make zion, Bryce, and canyonlands this time around. Your pics have me stoked! One question tho. I'm sure it was hot as balls during the day but how cool was it at night?

We had perfect weather on our trip. Don't think it hardly got over 80, coldest night was mid 30s probably.

I would avoid the desert in the middle of summer, but it's really pretty nice spring and fall.

I'm going to be in southern Utah around the end of this month and really want to do Hole in The Rock Trail. Do you think I'll be OK going in solo (wife will be riding with me) or should I wait until I can find another rig to tag along?

It is not a trail I would do by myself. It is very remote. If anything were to happen, there is no way to get word out.

sorry to bring up an old thread...

Im doing some planning for a month long road trip after I graduate school this spring and I have some plans to attempt the HITR trail. I have done some pretty easy trails, fins and things/top of the world, in moab but havent done anything quite like HITR. My truck is stock except for front skid and transmission skid. I have the rear locker and I have the shorter wheel base, do you think I could muster my way through the trail all the way to Halls? Any particular places that would give me a ton of trouble??
